Kia Orana! 🌺

These past two weeks have been filled with laughter, flowers, Cook Islands songs, language, storytelling, creativity, and delicious food as we celebrated Cook Islands Language Week.

Our tamariki enjoyed listening to One Foot Island story, learning Cook Islands Māori, creating printed pareu, making pancakes, crafting beautiful ei with Aunty Vilimaina, and designing feather headdresses inspired by traditional Cook Islands dance.

Last week, we also joined our friends at Born & Raised for special ethnic group photos and shared a delicious Cook Islands feast together, celebrating culture, friendship, and community.

Meitaki ma'ata to everyone who helped make these two weeks so memorable. ❤️💚

🌺 Kia Orana Whānau! 🌺

This Friday (7 August), we will be celebrating Cook Island Week together at Born and Raised Pasifika Learning Centre.

We are looking forward to a wonderful day of celebrating Cook Islands culture through music, dance, language, stories, and shared experiences. It will also be a special opportunity to enjoy a shared lunch together and celebrate the richness of our Pasifika community.

We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

中文周快乐🇨🇳Happy Chinese Language Week🪭🐼🥢

Over the past two weeks, our tamariki have been exploring Chinese language and culture through songs, art, food, and hands-on experiences.

During mat time, we sang familiar songs including 《两只老虎 (Liang Zhi Lao Hu)》, 《新年好 (Xin Nian Hao)》, 《恭喜发财 (Gong Xi Fa Cai)》, and learned new songs like 《一闪一闪亮晶晶 (Yi Shan Yi Shan Liang Jing Jing)》and 《我的朋友在哪里 (Wo De Peng You Zai Na Li)》. We also practised counting in Chinese, learned the Chinese names of animals, simple everyday phrases, and the days of the week.

Our tamariki enjoyed a variety of cultural experiences, including practising with 🥢, creating Qing Hua Ci(青花瓷)-inspired bowls and vases🔵⚪, designing Peking Opera masks (京剧脸谱)🎭, and trying traditional Chinese-inspired face painting and Huadian (花钿)🌸.

After several days of practising with chopsticks, our tamariki were excited to use them during noodle lunchtime, showing confidence, perseverance, and a willingness to try something new.

To finish our Chinese Language Week, we celebrated with a special Whanaungatanga. Dressed in beautiful red clothing, our tamariki enjoyed tasting Chinese food, showing off their face paintings, and celebrating the richness of Chinese culture together.

What a wonderful two weeks of learning, exploring, and celebrating together! ❤️🐼🇨🇳

🌿✨ Mānawatia a Puanga! ✨🌿

What a beautiful way to finish Term 2 at Pasifika Learning Centre!

This two weeks our tamariki explored Puanga through kōrero, waiata, and creative mahi toi. They made beautiful Puanga art, special Puanga cards, and delicious Puanga star biscuits, showing creativity, teamwork, and pride in their learning.

On Friday, we enjoyed a fun Pyjama Day. We also shared a special Friendship Boil Up, where whānau and tamariki came together to enjoy kai and strengthen our sense of community.

A huge thank you to all our whānau who joined us and supported these special moments—it was lovely to come together and end the term on such a warm note.
