Year 9 Outdoor Education

Year 9 OED students had an amazing time exploring the outdoors of our local backyard a few weeks back.
They learned to spot kiwi signs, identify predators, and understand protection efforts while trekking through the stunning landscape.
At the Kiwi Trust education centre, they got hands-on with navigation, pest identification, and even explored the microscopic world of insects. It was a fantastic day of learning and adventure!

🏑Youth Hockey Wrap-Up🏑

This year, we had a Trident mixed hockey team competing in the Wednesday youth competition at Horizon Turf. The competition is for our junior players only and our team was made up of players from both the Tridents boys’ and girls’ teams, along with two players who were giving hockey a go for the first time.

The 12-week competition provided plenty of opportunities for the players to have fun, practise their skills and enjoy playing against different teams from around our area.

For most of the team, playing in this competition was a chance to complement their regular boys’ and girls’ teams with some extra game time. It was also a great opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy playing hockey together in a relaxed and positive environment.

A big thank you to all the players for their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the competition, also thank you to Taylor and Hunter for referring games. It was great to see them enjoying their hockey and supporting each other along the way. Good luck to all hockey players competing at their respective winter tournaments next week.

Learner Licence

Over the last three terms, we have had Marylou from Marylou’s Driving School and Kelly Tuari from REAP Whakatāne at Trident, helping students gain their learner licences.

Marylou has been invaluable, providing tuition to students for a couple of hours on the Monday of each course, and then returning on Wednesday to go over any last-minute questions and test students before they sat their actual learner licence test here at Trident.

We are pleased to have had 35 students pass their learner licence test over the last three terms through this programme. The sense of achievement and success the students gain from obtaining their learner licence has been great to witness.
We look forward to working with both Marylou and Kelly again in 2027.
