How many Māori does it take to tune a guitar?
One tuner.
One spotter.
One hype man.
Collective leadership always wins!

Leadership lives in time.

The past teaches us.
The future inspires us.
But the present is where we lead.

At Whakaaro, we help you lead being present, not pressured.

Let’s reclaim clarity, calm, and confidence—together.

When your yin meets your yang at mahi, magic (and maybe a little chaos) happens.

Yes, we challenge each other. Yes, we crack each other up.
And yes—sometimes we drive each other up the wall.
But when the balance works, the kaupapa thrives.
If it works for the people we serve, it works for us.

Thanks for the aroha—appreciate every word!

Feedback doesn’t always come in numbers.

Sometimes it comes in karakia.
Sometimes in the look on someone’s face.
Sometimes in the sound of silence.

I was overseas recently, and I asked a Global Director of HR how they measure employee feedback.
She gave the stock standard answer:
“Of course, we do a survey.”

And yes, we do too. But that’s just one part of the picture.

At Whakaaro we ask for feedback in all forms:
• During the wānanga
• After the program
• A year later
• In writing, in voice, in wairua
• In the look on their faces when they return to mahi
• In the way they hold themselves around their whānau

Yes, the post-program survey continues to give us a 9/10 customer satisfaction rating.
That’s solid. We’re proud of that.
But more than numbers, we care about the ripples.
Because true satisfaction isn’t just about a rating.
It’s about whether your colleagues, whānau, and hapū can see, feel, and hear the change.

That’s the real measure.

If you think you’re leading, but no one’s following, you might just be taking a walk.

Leadership isn’t about being out in front.
It’s about who’s coming with you, and why.
It’s not about being the boss, the loudest, or the most experienced. It’s about how you make people feel, and whether they trust your direction.

Real leadership is influence.
Earned, not assumed.
Given, not taken.

If you’re walking with purpose, and others choose to walk with you… that’s leadership.

Tag someone who leads with influence, not title.
And save this as a reminder that the best leaders grow other leaders.
