Coastlands Preschool

Coastlands Preschool Coastlands Preschool provides an excellent, spacious environment for the development of young children We offer 20 hours ECE for children over three years old.

Situated by the beach in the peaceful surroundings of Coastlands our large indoor and outdoor areas ensure the children have plenty of room to engage in a wide selection of play activities. Our ratio of children to staff is kept low and a high quality of teaching is always in place. An extremely low turn over of staff has ensured all of our children are familiar with their teachers. This has led to enriched relationships and a firm sense of belonging.

Rūma Pukeko had another celebration this week... they threw a little celebration for Jacqie who has jumped on a plane to get married (don't worry, we made sure she was going to come back first). Have an amazing wedding Jacqie!!

Today we said a sad haere ra to Chris who steps down from her role as a permanent kaiako in Rūma Pukeko. Lucky for us Chris is going to stick around as a reliever (once she has enjoyed some well earned time off in Europe).

Chris has been with us for nearly nine and a half years, making her the second longest standing staff member of our current staff. #

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT...

Did you know that midnight tonight is the last chance you have to switch rolls for this year's election?

If you are of Māori decent you have two options - the General Roll or the Māori Roll.

Being on the Māori Roll means you get to choose who represents each Māori electorate and therefore gets one of the seven Māori seats in parliament. 𝗜𝗳 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗠ā𝗼𝗿𝗶 𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠ā𝗼𝗿𝗶 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹, 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗠ā𝗼𝗿𝗶 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 and more Māori seats in parliament.

Of course, you can always opt to remove yourself from the Māori Roll and go to the General Roll.

Unsure which roll you are on (or if you are even enrolled) or want to change the roll you are on? You can do/check that here...

Rūma Tui, was lucky to have Constable Tee and Constable Maddie visit them with their police car!
They read the tamariki some storybooks about what we might see on the roads and taught them about staying safe through a fun game of Stop and Go. Our tamariki were fully engaged and enjoyed learning important road safety skills in such an interactive way.
We also had the opportunity to dress up as police officers, and as you can see, our tamariki absolutely loved it!
The highlight of the day was getting up close to the police car and having a look inside. A huge thank you to Constable Tee and Constable Maddie for taking the time to visit us and create such a memorable learning experience for our tamariki.

What's better than one box? Lots of boxes!

How much fun have our tamariki been having with something as simple as empty shoe boxes.

We are always on the look out for open ended items to add to our rūma for the tamariki to play with. Get in touch if you have something you think we might be able to use.
