Playcentre Open Week is on next week!
If you have a baby or preschooler, come along and experience early learning where whānau and tamariki play, learn and grow together in a supportive community.

At Playcentre early learning is a shared journey. For over 85 years, we’ve supported parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend and learn alongside their children—helping build confidence, connection, and belonging.

We will have various activities for you and your child to explore throughout the week - ranging from water and sand play, music, crafts, and of course messy play.

Messy play is one of the best ways for children to explore, create, and learn—and at Karori Playcentre, they can get as messy as they like without you having to clean up your house afterwards! 😉

The weather might be looking a little grim, but at Karori Playcentre we know there's no such thing as bad weather – just the wrong clothing! 🌧️🧥

Even on rainy days, some of our tamariki love getting outside and exploring the sandpit, puddles, and fresh air. And when it's time to warm up, we have a cosy, dry centre filled with activities, crafts, toys, books, and plenty of opportunities for play.

We're still open next week before we close for the school holidays, so come along and see what Playcentre is all about!

At our centre, we encourage our tamariki to be kaitiaki—guardians and caretakers of the world around them. Whether it’s watering plants, noticing new growth, or proudly pointing out blooming flowers, these small moments help build a strong connection with nature 💚

Messy play + friendships = some of the best moments at Karori Playcentre 💛

One of the best things about our centre (according to our tamariki): we’re right next to Ben Burn Park 🚜

That means front row seats whenever the tractor comes along to mow the lawns—always a highlight for our little tractor fans! 😄

Even though we have a beautiful centre full of engaging activities, Karori Playcentre also loves heading out on excursions to explore Wellington together 🌿

Last week, we visited the Discovery Garden at the Botanic Garden, where our tamariki embraced all things autumn 🍂 We got creative with leaf crafts, helped water the garden, planted peas, checked in on caterpillars, and of course dressed up for the occasion 😄

Over time, we’ve shared many special outings—visiting the zoo, exploring a dinosaur exhibition, and learning about Matariki at Te Papa, just to name a few. These experiences are a big part of what makes our community so special.
