Yesterday we celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights at Childspace Karori. We started the day by reading books about Diwali and then did some fireworks painting. In the afternoon Kaiako Adalia offered facepainting and I did henna for some very keen tamariki. We collected some flowers and also used some dried flowers to make rangoli. We will continue the festivities today and engage the tamariki in making a sweet as well as creating some rangoli patterns using cornflour. We also plan to decorate a wooden whare, I bet the children will love that!
