This weeks whole school hui allowed us to celebrate all the great things students do in our school and church community - showing our Mercy values, Caught being good awards, and those encountering Christ through the Sacrament of Confirmation.

To conclude our independence day celebrations, the school was treated to cultural performances by our Filipino students. It was such a privilege to see our children using their gifts, letting their light shine and be steeped strongly in their Filipino culture. What a blessing to be a part of your special day. We are so proud of you all! Mabuhay!

Our parent community brought the Philippines to St Anne's School with an array of delicious foods for trying and tasting. Beautiful colours and smells filled the hall and the children were spoilt for choice!

Mabuhay! Many thanks to our titos and titas who came in to teach our Junior Syndicate aspects of the Filipino culture.
Our mga mag-aaral learnt about the main mode of public transport in the Philippines which is the "jeepney" and they got to design and make one.
The children also watched Tito Romnick and Tita Pamela making "Pastillas", a Filipino dessert. The children had great fun and learnt lots!
Maraming Salamat Tito Romnick, Tito Eduard, Tita Pamela, Tita Liza and Tita MaryAnn, for taking the time out of your busy work schedules to come in and teach us. We appreciate you sharing the Filipino culture with us in the lead up to Philippines Independence day this Friday.

Room 6's writing focus has been about informing their audience. Ruben chose social media as his platform to inform the whole school about rubbish and what we can do about it.
St Anne's, did you know there is a problem! All of the rubbish is around the playground. If you step on rubbish your shoes will be smelly. So put it in the rubbish bin. If you don't pick them up it will be blown away into our lovely sea. Then the fish will eat it, then they will die. Papatūānuku and the earth will be sad. So please pick up the rubbish you see and put it in the rubbish bin.
By Ruben.
Kia pai tō mahi Ruben!
