This week we have the loverly Whanau Manaaki builders here at kindergarten replacing our old boundary fence. The tamariki are very interested in the work and know the two builders by name. Riley noticed them pouring grey power into a bucket of water then using a "stick that goes around" to mix it.

Our tamariki enjoyed exploring our beautiful Taniwha mosaic and having kōrero about the taniwha who made Pōneke harbour.

This week we have been tiding up our compositing area and cleaning up the worm farm. The tamariki loved using the trolly. They took charge by sourcing the water and transporting it to where it was needed.

Our tamariki are loving exploring our noke (worm) farm 🪱🌱

They’ve been curious and engaged, enjoying a closer look and having meaningful kōrero about where our kai scraps go — learning how they help feed our worms and give back to the whenua.

Our tamariki (children) are enjoying rich kōrero (discussion) as they decide which huawhenua (vegetables) to plant in our māra (garden). It’s an exciting journey—watch this space as our māra grows and flourishes 🌱

After weathering the storm, it’s been so lovely to welcome our tamariki back to kindergarten. The spaces are once again filled with energy, curiosity, and rich active learning as children reconnect, explore, and learn together.

Stickers might look like simple fun, but there’s so much learning happening in those little moments ✨

As tamariki peel, place, and reposition stickers, they’re strengthening the tiny muscles in their hands that will later support pencil grip and writing. They’re also building focus, coordination, and control, all while expressing their creativity and making their own choices.

Next time you see a child absorbed in sticker play, know they’re growing important skills for the future, one sticker at a time. 💛

On Saturday, we came together for our annual Kindergarten Wheelathon 🛴🚲
It was such a wonderful opportunity to connect as a community and show our support for our kindergarten. Seeing our tamariki enjoying their wheels and cheering each other on made the day extra special.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, participated, and supported our fundraiser, we truly appreciate it! 💛
