"The Cook Islands consist of 15 islands ranging from coral atolls to volcanic islands, with only 12 inhabited, and the official languages are English and Cook Islands Māori, with several dialects. There are around 14,800 residents across the islands, with a significant population living in Aotearoa New Zealand, maintaining strong ties with the Cook Islands. The Cook Islands and Niue are self-governing while in free association with Aotearoa New Zealand."

Matariki is known by many names across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa 🌌✨While the kupu may differ from place to place, the themes of remembrance, connection, reflection, and looking ahead are shared across many of our Pacific cultures 💛

As we get ready to celebrate Matariki, we celebrate not only the rising of the stars, but the deep connections that exist across our moana, our languages, and our peoples 🌊✨

📣 This year, to celebrate te reo Māori and the shared histories of Aotearoa and the wider Pacific, The Warehouse and Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori (the Māori Language Commission) have produced a limited-edition kākahu (clothing) range for Matariki. Coming soon!
