Last week, our Preschool tamariki enjoyed an exciting adventure to the Wellington Zoo as part of our transdisciplinary theme, Sharing the planet.
Through hands-on experiences and close-up encounters with a variety of animals, our tamariki explored the different habitats animals call home, learned about their needs for survival, and discovered how we can all play a part in caring for and protecting living things.
Learning beyond the classroom sparks curiosity, deepens understanding, and helps children make meaningful connections with the world around them. It was a wonderful day of discovery, wonder, and learning without walls!

Did You Know?
The Fly Up Ceremony is a special milestone in a preschool child's journey as they transition to primary school.
At St Mark's, we celebrate this momentous occasion as a whole school community. Children who have attended St Mark's Preschool and are moving into Year 1 are honoured through a special ceremony featuring waiata, the transfer of the korowai, the presentation of badges, and a special prayer.
This cherished tradition reflects the inclusivity and oneness of St Mark's Preschool and St Mark's School, supporting a smooth and positive transition to "big school."
For over 30 years, St Mark's has proudly celebrated this significant milestone, creating lasting memories for our children and their families.
