Hi everyone hope your looking forward to tomorrow's event. I'm hoping that there won't be any prefects at the bottom of the driveway checking that my socks are up and my shoes polished šŸ˜† šŸ˜… 😜 .

-------- Original message

Class of 1984, it’s time!

We're only a few weeks out from the 40 Years On Reunion, happening Friday, 18 October, and I’m hoping you’re ready to walk down memory lane with us. If my last email got lost in the depths of your junk folder or you just haven’t had a chance to register, don’t worry -I’ve got you covered! Here’s all the info again so you can join your classmates for a day and night of laughter, storytelling, and a few "did we really do that?" moments. If you wish me to resend the full email with all the extras including the 1984 spreadsheet, the Wellingtonian and form class photos, just let me know.

Here’s the programme:
9.30am: Meet up at the Archives (the former Headmasters' House) for a welcome, morning tea and a few visual memories of the 1980s. Plus have your cohort photo taken.

12.30pm: Lunch at Prefab (optional)

6.00pm: Drinks and Dinner at The Wellesley Club for the 1984 Reunion Dinner

Late: The night is yours!

You can register HERE and pay either online HERE or by Internet banking. Please remember to include your surname and ā€œ1984ā€ in the reference. 01-0505-0842393-00. Easy peasy!

We’ve got a packed day planned - old faces to reconnect with (including some of your teachers, and a Headmaster), photos to laugh over, and spots around the school you might have forgotten even existed. Once we know who's in, I’ll send out the list of attendees, so you can start prepping those stories and excuses!

Hope to see you there! We even have a few from across the Tasman flying over so I hope those who live a bit closer can get here.

If you can't make it, maybe you'd like to send a message to be read out at Dinner.

Best wishes

Steph

It’s Time to Register for the Class of 1984 Reunion!

Thanks for your patience while we finalised the details. The wait is over, and it’s time to dust off your school tie (if you can still find it!) and get ready for a fantastic day of reminiscing and reconnecting.

Here’s the plan:

From 9:30am: Meet up at the Archives (the former Headmaster’s House) for morning tea with the Headmaster, Glen Denham, and our school historians, Mike Pallin and Gary Girvan. We’ll have a few photos from 1984 on display, but if you’ve got some dusty gems tucked away in the attic, send them through! We’d love to borrow them for scanning and sharing.

Then we’ll head off for a school tour, taking a trip down memory lane. Watch out for any remaining graffiti you may have left behind! Our walk ends at the Alan Gibbs Centre (the Memorial Hall of your day) for your official cohort photo.

Lunch: After the tour, the choice is yours! You can join the crew for a bite at Prefab on Jessie Street (just a short walk away), or head off on your own adventure. If you’re coming to Prefab, don’t forget to RSVP for catering – you’ll be paying for your own food and drink.

From 6:00pm: The Class of 1984 Dinner will be held at The Wellesley Club (Maginnity Street). First drink’s on us, along with canapĆ©s, before heading upstairs for dinner and some short, sweet speeches. We’ll wrap things up around 10:00pm, but the night doesn’t have to end there – the Wellington Waterfront is just a stone’s throw away for those of you who fancy a nightcap (or two) and some more reminiscing.

Now, I know times are tough, and we’re all feeling the pinch. But we’ve worked hard to keep costs reasonable. This reunion isn’t a fundraiser – it’s about reconnecting, laughing at old stories, and celebrating 40 years since you last ruled the school!

Need a bit more encouragement?

Take a peek at the Class of 1984 cohort spreadsheet. You’ll notice a few names without email addresses – if you can help out, please forward this invite. No worries if you’d prefer your email to remain private, just let me know.

The 1984 Wellingtonian is here for a quick trip down memory lane. Have you changed that much!

Form class photos from 1980 – when you were innocent, wide-eyed boys with the world ahead of you.

A few notes for the day:

Harvey Rees Thomas might join us for morning tea – he popped by this week to share fond memories of the Class of ’84. We’ll also hope to have a few familiar faces from back in the day, including Rob Corliss, Rob Anderson, Kim Tattersall, and Marty Vaughan.

Brien "Toad" McCrae’s biography was going to launch on the Thursday, but it’s now happening the following week – his benefactor Old Boy, Marc Ellis has changed the launch date. If you’re interested in attending, just let me know – I’ve had a good read of the book, and it’s a great read!

Accommodation: The Wellesley Club is offering a room rate starting at $229.00, and the nearby Cambridge Hotel has good rates too. Just let me know if you need more details.

Dress Code: Smart casual is the way to go, especially for the evening.

Partners: Yes, they’re welcome – but be warned, they may tire of all the old school tales based on the experience of previous reunions.

So, what are you waiting for? Time to register and relive your youth!

Feel free to contact me with any questions, and I’ll keep you updated on who’s registered. I’ll also share my mobile closer to the time in case you get lost – although, after 40 years, the school might be a bit different!

Can’t wait to see you here at Wellington College!

Hi all

Just thought I'd start this page leading up to the reunion to remind everyone. There must be lots more old boys from our year that I don't have contacts for, so if you have them as contacts send them here so we get as many people along for the 18th October.

Thanks Craig Stinson
