The Branch was formed in 1851 as the New Zealand Society, one of the oldest scientific organisations in New Zealand.

We support science, technology and the humanities in the Wellington region of Aotearoa New Zealand. The aim of the Royal Society of New Zealand Wellington Branch is to publicise science and technology and provide interesting and topical talks for our members and the public. All our talks are free and the public are invited to attend. We provide:

- Several public lectures each year.
