Every Friday we share facts about New Zealand’s democracy and electoral system ℹ️
This week’s Friday Fact is: You need to keep your address up to date so you stay on the electoral roll.
If you’ve moved address and not updated your details, it could mean you’re moved off the main electoral roll and onto the dormant roll. This happens when mail we’ve sent to you is returned from your old address.
It’s easy to correct though – you just need to update your address with us, and you’ll be moved back to the main roll that you’re enrolled on, whether it's the Māori roll or the general roll.
You can check or update your details online at vote.nz/enrol
