Hope everyone is staying warm, safe and dry out there! We have high hopes for calmer weather in March. With 133 schools around our rohe already signed up, it's gonna be a great celebration of active and sustainable travel (and a bit of Wellington weather resilience)!
And yes... Bus trips count too! We ππ public transport!

Today is not the day to be out and about! Please follow the advice from WREMO and stay home if you are safe to do so. Avoid travel.
πMetlink has updates about trains and buses.
βΌοΈWellington Region Emergency Management Office is the best place for official advice on weather conditions. See their post about schools: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14UvXWRNCNp/
πΈBelow is an *unofficial* list of schools that have been reported closed. But check with your own school for information.
π Most importantly, if it is not safe for you or your whΔnau to travel, stay home!

Another great safety tip for everyone on our roads.
ππΈ20k either wayπΈπ when passing a school bus. Keep those little ones safe.
π School Bus Safety β Wairarapa π
Kia ora Wairarapa drivers β if youβre travelling our rural or urban roads, please be extra alert around school buses.
π Either way, itβs 20km/h when passing a stationary school bus.
Kids may be crossing the road, stepping out from behind the bus, or moving unpredictably β especially on rural routes where visibility can be limited.
WhΔnau, please take a moment to teach your tamariki the curb drill when waiting for school bus pick-ups or drop-offs:
β’ Stop at the curb
β’ Look and listen
β’ Look again before crossing
A little patience from drivers and a little practice at home helps keep our kids safe.
