The future of our tamariki, and their education matters. Let's be their voice to ensure they can continue thriving.

The tamariki have loved experimenting with pouring, tipping and watching the water travel through pipes. It's been a wonderful way to encourage problem solving , team work and hands on learning.
So much learning happens when we simply provide materials and let the tamariki take lead.

Brrrrr, a chilly morning created the most incredible ice crystals at Kindergarten which we then scraped off the box and created a SNOWBALL! The excitement was obvious with lots requests to hold the ball and squeals of delight as we threw it at the wall. Exploring our frozen playground provided a rich sensory learning experience for tamariki. They investigated the changing properties of water through touch, temperature and experimentation. As they rolled, squeezed and observed the ice they developed curiosity, scientific thinking and language to describe their discoveries. Running their cold hands under the warm taps inside created the perfect end to a exciting morning.

This week at kindergarten we've enjoyed another week full of creativity, curiosity, and imaginative play. We created a pretend campfire. We also explored scented playdough , using a variety of different aromas to engage our senses.

This wet windy day called for puddle jumping and making piklets.
Making kai together invites lots conversations and connections. Have an awesome long weekend everyone.😊💫⭐️

With the cold wet weather in full force and tamariki wanting to spend more time indoors, we saw the need to intentionally create quiet zones inside, and cosy nooks to retreat to. We are thrilled how this area looks and can't wait to see how the tamariki use it. By adding in some soft furnishings and defined spaces it creates a calming feel in what can be a busy environment. This area is still a work in progress and we have some more ideas to make this area magical so watch this space!

Jack frost paid us a visit at kindergarten this morning. ❄️🥶 The tamariki were full of excitement as they discovered crunchy ice covering our outdoor environment. There was lots of crunching under feet and cold hands as we touched the ice, exporing the different shapes.
It was a wonderful opportunity to spark curiosity, encourage scientific thinking, and connect with the changing seasons through hands on exploration. ❄️

Today we were busy preparing for our Matariki celebration evening. The tamariki worked together to peel and chop vegetables for a delicious vegetable soup 🍲, showing team work and growing confidence with practical life skills.
We also scrubbed the chairs taking pride in getting our space ready to warmly welcome our whanau tomorrow evening. We are looking forward to coming together as a community to celebrate Matariki 💫⭐️ Share kai, and create special memories with our whanau. 🍲🥖⭐️

Our Matariki celebrations have continued throughout the week. We had special Matariki inspired play dough invitation. Our nine Matariki stars are also displayed for eveyone to enjoy. This sparked many conversations about our previous learning. It has been awesome to see the tamariki engaging with Matariki through hands on play, and meaningful conversations. 💫🌟 We look forward to our Whanau evening next week!

As we celebrate matariki, tamariki have been busy planting, caring for, and observing the growth in our garden. We even still have the odd caterpillars.
These hands - on - experiences help foster a sense of connection to the natural world and the values of kaitiakitanga.
