Everyday Encouragement for your Teacher Heart 28/09/2025

✨ Teaching can be such a rewarding calling—but it also comes with days where our hearts feel stretched thin.

Over the years as a Christian school leader, I shared weekly devotional encouragements with my staff to help us all stay grounded, uplifted, and inspired.

I’ve gathered a selection of these messages into a little resource I wish every teacher had on hand — Everyday Encouragement for the Teacher Heart. ❤️📖

It’s designed to give busy teachers quick, powerful encouragements you can use:

👉 For your own quiet reflection
👉 To support staff devotions
👉 Or even to share a practical classroom application with your students

If you’re looking for something simple yet soul-refreshing to keep your teacher heart steady in the everyday, you might enjoy this.

You can check it out here:

✨ The heart of Christian education, it’s not just about what we teach — it’s also about the spaces we create.

Our classrooms, playgrounds, and gathering places aren’t only buildings and facilities; they are invitations. Invitations for students, staff, and families to step into God’s big story — a story of truth, beauty, purpose, and hope.

When learning environments are thoughtfully designed, they become places where faith and knowledge meet, where curiosity is nurtured, and where every child is reminded they are deeply loved and wonderfully made. 🌿

💡 Let’s keep creating spaces that don’t just educate minds, but also shape hearts for God’s kingdom.

Habits for your teacher heart….

Let Go of the Worry – Teach from a Place of Peace❤️

As teachers, we carry so much—lesson planning, grading, classroom behaviour, student needs, parent expectations, leadership demands. It’s easy to find ourselves overwhelmed, even anxious, as the weight of it all piles up. But God offers us another way.

1. Put God and His Will First
“Keep your minds on things above, not on worldly things.” – Colossians 3:2 (GWT)
Start each day in your classroom with a surrendered heart. Before the first bell rings, invite God to be your guide. Ask Him, “What would You have me focus on today?” When we prioritise God, even in the small moments—like a quiet prayer at our desk or choosing patience with a difficult student—we find that His peace steadies us.

2. Take Each Day at a Time
“Don’t worry about tomorrow… Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:34 (NCV)
The future of our students can feel like a huge responsibility. Will they pass? Will they grow? Will they succeed? But Jesus reminds us—do today well. Be present. Teach with love and focus, knowing He holds tomorrow. The energy we spend on worry is better used pouring into the young minds in front of us today.

3. Learn to Prioritise What Really Matters
In Luke 10, we read about Martha, busy with the details, and Mary, sitting at Jesus’ feet. Martha’s work wasn’t wrong—but it distracted her from what was most important. In our classrooms, we can get caught up in perfection: the bulletin board, the assessments, the data. But what about the heart of that student who just needs someone to believe in them today? Jesus gently reminds us—don’t miss Him in the midst of the work.

So what now?
“Do not worry about your life… Look at the birds… your heavenly Father feeds them.” – Matthew 6:25-26 (NKJV)
Let Jesus be the centre of your classroom. Let His presence quiet the noise of worry and His provision remind you that you’re not alone in your calling. When you focus on Him, the chaos fades, and purpose returns.

Let’s encourage each other:
👇 In the comments, share one way you centre your day around Christ in the classroom—or tag a fellow teacher who lifts you up in faith. Let’s be teachers who lead from His peace, not pressure.

What if the spaces we create could share the Gospel before a word is even spoken?

Last week I had the joy of consulting with a Christian kindy that lives out its faith in every corner of its campus.
From the outdoor play area to the indoor gathering space, every element whispers belonging, wonder, and welcome.

🌿 Nature invites curiosity.
🖼 Artwork reflects culture and community.
📖 Scripture on the wall grounds hearts in truth.
🪑 Comfortable corners say: you are seen, and you are safe here.

This isn’t just design—it’s discipleship through environment.
It’s a powerful reflection of a Christian worldview that sees every child as made in the image of God, and every family as worthy of honour and care.

Culture doesn’t happen by accident.
It is cultivated by leaders who believe that learning spaces can also be sacred spaces.

💬 To my fellow Christian educators: How are you building places of belonging that reflect the heart of Christ?

👇 I’d love to hear your thoughts or see a photo of the spaces you’ve created! Let’s inspire one another as we shape the next generation with love and intentionality.

A lot can happen in a week…
and one week changed everything.🙌

From the palm branches of celebration,
To the table of remembrance,
To the pain of the cross,
To the silence of the tomb…

And then—resurrection. 🙌

This is the power of Easter. 🔥

No matter what season you’re walking through,👣

This truth remains: Hope is never lost.🙌

Love conquered death.❤️
And grace still wins.

He is risen.❤️
He is alive.❤️
And that changes everything.❤️

When the week feels heavy…
When the work feels unfinished…
When the mission feels overwhelming…

Remember this: It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming.

He’s not done.
And neither are you.

As Christian educators, we walk into our classrooms with purpose - sometimes tired, sometimes burdened - but never alone.

Keep showing up.
Keep sowing seeds.

Resurrection power is at work, even when you can’t yet see the fruit.

Let this weekend be your reminder—hope rises.

What’s That in Your Hand, Teacher?🧑‍🏫

Have you ever found yourself holding on tightly to something because it feels safe? Familiar?

Because it’s who you are?

Maybe you’ve been a classroom teacher for years. 🙌
Maybe you’re amazing at what you do. 🤩

And maybe—just maybe—God is whispering something new… and it feels terrifying. 😱

I want to take you to one simple, powerful moment in the book of Exodus:
“Then the Lord asked him, ‘What is that in your hand?’” (Exodus 4:2 NLT)

Moses answered, “A shepherd’s staff.”

A symbol of his identity. His job. His safety. His skillset.
But God told him to throw it down.

And when he did—it transformed. 💥

This was no longer just a stick to guide sheep…

It became a sign of God’s power,
a tool for miracles,
and the catalyst to deliver an entire nation.
💥💥💥
Teacher friend, what’s in your hand?
Your whiteboard?
Lesson plans?
Your years of experience in the classroom?

Maybe it’s a leadership gift you’ve never explored. 🤷‍♀️
A passion for coaching or mentoring others. 🤔
A tug toward something new that’s both exciting and terrifying.🥰😱

And maybe… God is asking you to throw it down.

Not because He wants to take it from you,
but because He wants to transform it.💥

The classroom might have been your pasture—but now, He’s calling you to part Red Seas.💥💥

Let’s be real: leaving the familiar is scary. 😱
Stepping into a new role, a different position, or even a whole new career feels like stepping out of the boat and onto the water.💧

But that’s where Jesus is.❤️

And where He is? That’s where the miracles are.❤️

So here’s the question again—what’s that in your hand? 🤔

Could it be the very thing God wants to use in ways you never imagined? 🤩

If you’re wrestling with a transition, a calling, or a holy nudge that feels way bigger than you, I want to encourage you:

you’re not alone.

There’s purpose on the other side of obedience. And what you lay down today could be the very thing God multiplies tomorrow. 🙌🙌🙏🙌🙌

Your Invitation...

The idea for this space began, if I’m honest, 28 years ago when as a beginning teacher I was encouraged and inspired by the more experienced teachers around me; their words of encouragement spoken on a daily basis, their unrelenting pursuit of excellence in every classroom and their commitment to make a child’s day better. Their words and example lifted my heart on the tough days and flamed my passion on the best days!

In creating this space it is my intention to provide a place of inspiration with a focus on Leadership and Teaching and to offer an invitation to you to join me and others; as we LEAD EXCEL ACHIEVE DREAM - Before the Bell.

Technology today provides the perfect platform to do this on a grander scale. To gather together to learn ways to improve our craft of teaching, inspire each other to excel in this pursuit, achieve a standard of excellence for ourselves and our students, and a quiet space to dream.... for without the moments of silence we can be swept away in the reactive busyness of timetables, systems and day to day demands of Education.

My journey on the road of Education has seen me travel many kilometres creating a list of rich experiences for which I am eternally grateful and humbled to have been a part of (listed below for those curious enough to read!). It is from these experiences that I create this space to encourage others to be the best they can be as next gen educators.
