As 2025 comes to a close, I want to celebrate the incredible creativity, community, and growth we’ve experienced this year at The Academy of Dramatic Arts.

It’s been a year full of storytelling, imagination, and young performers stepping into their confidence!

Looking Ahead to 2026 — and it’s already looking magical!
Next year we’re planning:

• A brand-new outdoor Christmas pantomime in development for Kapiti, Wellington and Carterton!

PAYPA Mentorship (Performing Arts and Young People Aotearoa)

I was fortunate to receive a Creative New Zealand–funded mentorship through PAYPA to support the development of a brand-new children’s play.
My mentor was incredible — generous, insightful, and inspiring — and the process pushed me creatively in all the best ways.
The outcome is a script I’m genuinely proud of: fun, imaginative, well-rounded, and full of heart.
We’re now planning a workshop in early 2026, with a possible full production sometime 2026.
Feeling very grateful — and very excited for what’s next.

Creative Writing Workshops with Wellington City Council
Young writers shone during the school holidays!

Weeks one and two of the September–October 2025 holidays saw our young writers (ages 7–12) gather at Karori and Ngaio Libraries, Island Bay and Tawa Community Centre’s in Wellington, for creative scriptwriting adventures — and the results were absolutely fantastic!
Using a one-page starter script from the WRITE & ACT series (for 2, 3, and 4 young actors), these budding playwrights brought their imaginations to life — finishing the scripts in their own unique, hilarious, and heartfelt ways.
From mysterious glowing boxes to time travellers gone rogue and unexpected plot twists, the ideas were endless — and the laughter was contagious!
A huge well done to all the young people who crafted their characters, shared their stories, and discovered the joy of performance and storytelling. You were amazing!

PAYPA Hui — Christchurch 2025

A fantastic weekend at the PAYPA Hui in Christchurch!
An inspiring few days celebrating the Performing Arts and Young People Aotearoa community, with:
• A walk-through of the stunning new Court Theatre
• Insightful workshops
• Brilliant shows
• A gala dinner and awards
• A “walk and talk” with the PAYPA committee
It was wonderful to connect with so many passionate artists, educators, and creatives shaping the future of youth theatre in Aotearoa.
Proud to represent The Academy of Dramatic Arts and to be part of this vibrant, supportive community.
(And yes — the costumes, the people, and that Court Theatre glow at night were all unforgettable!)

Inside a buzzing beehive, four hardworking bees — Bumble, Brumble, Babble, and Brattle — are busy cleaning their wings and working non-stop… until Brumble Bee decides to take a little
