Real skills. Real impact. Real pathways. 💙

Installment 4 of 4 in our Corrections NZ highlight series focuses on Louise Dale’s journey at Otago Corrections Facility.

Louise’s story highlights the impact of values-based learning and the important role Corrections staff play in supporting rehabilitation. Through completing a Whānau, Community and Social Services apprenticeship with Careerforce, she strengthened her understanding of the people she works with and gained practical tools to better support positive change every day.

For Louise, success is often found in the small but meaningful moments: a shift in behaviour, an apology, or seeing someone leave custody with hope and a plan for the future. Her story reflects the power of connection, reflection, and creating a culture of care and belonging.

Through Careerforce’s work-based training, learners can earn while they learn, gaining nationally recognised qualifications while building practical, real-world skills.
