The kaiako and kaimahi from Lyall Bay School wish to share a VERY BIG thank you to the wonderful Friends of Lyall Bay School, who arranged for whānau to provide delicious and yummy treats for morning tea today! With our Learning Through Play morning, it was perfectly timed to give us some much needed energy! Our heartfelt thanks! Have a lovely Easter break and School holiday time! Ngā mihi!

Over the past few days the kaiako and kaimahi have been spending time preparing for the year ahead. Today we spent the day with Kathryn Berkett, an insightful and dedicated neuroscience educator who has been empowering people to understand brains, minds and behaviours. We invite our school community to come and listen to Kathryn on Tuesday 10th February. Further details will come out on HERO on Monday.

Another day of sunshine and the ocean for Onepū. This time, at our local beach for Beach Education from Lyall Bay Surf Lifesaving Club. Not a bad classroom today at all!

Hello amazing community! This week our snorkel trips were affected by this shocking event and Mountains to Sea Wellington need our help! Do you know anything about the truck and/or trailer? We were so lucky to get one group out today to explore Princess Bay... but the impact on all the schools MTSW work with is huge! Our newly formed Board of Trustees has now found their feet and would love the opportunity to meet our school community.

The Board is hosting two informal meet-and-greet opportunities on Monday, 1st December (This coming Monday). Please feel free to come along, say hello, and share any thoughts you may have.

Afternoon Pickup – 3.00–3.30pm
Board members will be out on the grass field (weather permitting) from 3.00pm to 3.30pm.

If the weather isn’t great, they’ll be in the staffroom instead.

Evening – The Botanist, 6.00–7.30pm
Join the Board in the outdoor area at The Botanist for a relaxed catch-up.
Come for a chat, grab a drink or some nibbles, and connect with fellow Lyall Bay whānau.

These informal sessions can be as simple as a quick hello, or an opportunity to contribute ideas—you choose.

With a completely new Board, they are keen to hear constructive feedback as they begin shaping the school’s Strategic Plan for 2026 and beyond.
