Last week Saturday, we celebrated 10 years of Tautua, a milestone that wouldn't be possible without our village.

We laughed, cried, and celebrated together as our students performed and listened to our story unravel. To hear the beginning and to see where we are heading in the future.

God is so good, and without him, Tautua dance wouldn't exist. Vi'ia le Atua🙌🏾

Here's to many more students connecting with their Fa'asinomaga, trips around the world, and more opportunities for our students.

Our registers are now open and close this Friday.

This is how it all began💫🥹

On 24 March 2016, our Co-Director Sophia gave birth to her and Co-Director Jayden Luapo's beautiful daughter, Italya-Blessing.

During labour, they faced unexpected complications, and as a result, Italya was deprived of oxygen to her brain. Sophia was rushed in for an emergency C-section.

Italya-Blessing was born blue, suffering seizures, and was immediately rushed to NICU for urgent treatment and testing.

Our little girl was fighting for her life, and all we could do was stand outside her incubator, watching and praying.

The doctors told us that because of the severe brain injury she had sustained at birth, our daughter would likely never walk, talk, or function like other children.

As first-time parents, our hearts were shattered.

This wasn't the future we had imagined. We struggled to process the diagnosis and the many labels that were placed upon our daughter. With endless specialist appointments and uncertainty ahead of us, we found ourselves at rock bottom.

Our relationship suffered, and we drifted away from the one thing that had always brought us together—dance.

Nearly two months after Italya was born, we made a decision that would change our lives forever.

We stepped out in faith and started a dance company.

That was the birth of TAUTUA DANCE.

From the very beginning, Italya came with us everywhere—to every workshop, every rehearsal, every performance, and every dance class.

Slowly but surely, she began to break through every barrier and every label that had been placed upon her.

She started to walk.

She started to talk.

She started to run.

Through Siva Sāmoa, our baby girl achieved things doctors once believed were impossible. Through Siva Sāmoa, she has traveled the world, built lifelong friendships, and continues to inspire everyone who meets her.

One decision—to trust God and follow the path He had prepared for us—not only changed our lives - but created a place where thousands of others have found culture, belonging, purpose, and family.
