Meet Sifa, Apprentice Leader for Tiling 👋
For Sifa, the trades were always in his family. He started out in another sector, but when the opportunity came to jump trades and work alongside his dad in the family business Turtle Tiling, it was a no brainer.
His take on the trades? There’s nothing quite like showing up on day one of a build and still being there when it’s finished. Watching your work come together from foundation to finish, that’s what keeps him coming back.
As an Apprentice Leader, Sifa wants to champion professional workmanship and help pave the way for the next generation of tilers.
Welcome Sifa, we’re glad you’re here!

On 25 May, we gathered at the Scenic Hotel in Blenheim to celebrate 15 incredible apprentices who have completed their qualifications across Carpentry, Joinery, Kitchen Design, Construction Trade Supervision, Architectural Aluminium Joinery, and Flooring.
We were honoured to be joined by two special guests; local Floor Installer and Youth Worker Lee Tupia, who opened the evening with a beautiful Karakia, and Kylie Cornelius, Executive Officer of the Blenheim Chamber of Commerce, who shared some wonderful words of wisdom with our graduates.
Around 40 whānau, friends, and employers came along to cheer on our graduates, and the energy in the room was something special.
To all 15 graduates, you showed up, you put in the mahi, and you earned it. Congratulations!👏

Meet Noah, our Apprentice Leader for Exterior Plastering 👋
It wasn’t Noah’s plan to get into the trades - it kind of found him when he was ready to leave high school. Now at 22, working for J R Exterior Plastering, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Noah’s take on doing an apprenticeship? Skip the debt, earn while you learn, and walk away with a skill that’s future-proof and globally recognised.
By being an Apprentice Leader he’s here to help apprentices grow and hit a professional standard. Welcome to the role, Noah. Big things ahead 💪

On Friday 22 May, around 40 BCITO apprentices from across Hawke's Bay gathered in Hastings to celebrate the completion of their qualifications.
Apprenticeship is deeply rooted in this region and it showed. Several long-standing companies marked incredible milestones on the night, with some now having supported more than 20, 30, 40, and even 50 graduates through their businesses.
But the evening was about far more than presenting certificates. It was a chance to recognise each graduate's unique journey, the challenges they've overcome, the skills they've honed, and the people they've become. Seeing their work showcased on screen was a powerful reminder of the exceptional craftsmanship within today's tradies, and a reassurance that the industry is in very capable hands.
We are hugely proud of every single graduate, and the employers who have supported them. The dedication and mahi that goes into achieving these qualifications is no small thing, and it's clear there are very promising futures ahead.
