“We relocated to Wellington from the Hawke’s Bay where our son was at an in-home daycare with only him and 3 others.

“We were unsure at first how he would settle with so many more children but from day 1 he has loved attending NCP.

“He really enjoys spending time with each of his kaiako, learning and playing with all his friends. He gets excited each morning for what could happen at preschool every day.

“They made us feel extremely welcome and we couldn’t be happier having chosen NCP!”

Ngā mihi nui to one of our awesome preschool parents for sharing their experience with us 💚

Did you know our preschool is not-for-profit and community-run? 💙

We believe that preschool is a place for the whole family and that parents should have the opportunity to be involved in their child’s early learning education.

Our committee is made up of parents and caregivers who work in partnership with staff to run the preschool. We also host working bees and host whānau events. This helps build a community around our preschool and allows families to connect with each other 🙌

Tucked away among the trees, halfway between Ōtari Wilton’s Bush and Te Ahumairangi Hill, is our calm little preschool 🌳

With a sunny and sheltered outdoor space, views of native bush and regular visits from kererū and tūī, nature is part of our everyday – a place where tamariki can slow down and explore.

Ngā mihi nui to Transpower NZ for their generous grant supporting our preschool 💛

Because of this funding from Transpower and support from Mitre 10 New Zealand Crofton Downs, we’ve been able to refurbish our kaiako room and add much-needed storage to the play areas. This has created a more organised, comfortable space for our kaiako and tamariki.

We’re so grateful for Transpower and Mitre10’s support of early childhood education and our local community 🙌

Here at preschool, we believe tuakana-teina relationships are integral to the way children learn.

Tuakana-teina is a concept from te ao Māori. It refers to the relationship between an older (tuakana) person and a younger (teina) person.

In early childhood education, the relationships take many forms – peer to peer, older to younger, younger to older, and able to less able.
