When Rekha moved from Auckland to Wellington in September 2025, she was starting from scratch — no local connections, no professional network, and the challenge of communicating confidently in English as someone who grew up in Italy. 🌏

Joining KiwiClass became a turning point in her journey. 💛

Through regular classes, Rekha improved her English, grew more confident understanding New Zealand accents, and learned about Kiwi culture and everyday life — helping her feel truly at home in her new community. 🏡✨

With the support of her tutor and our Student Support team, she also strengthened her CV and cover letter writing skills and built confidence in job interviews. 💪📄

Are you passionate about supporting people to build a better future? KiwiClass is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team and help former refugees and migrants on their journey to connect, learn, and thrive in Aotearoa New Zealand. 💚

At KiwiClass, volunteers play a vital role in enriching the learning experience of our students. Whether you're supporting in ESOL classes, assisting with employment preparation, or contributing to special projects — every contribution counts! 🙌

As a volunteer, you will:
✅ Make a tangible difference to people settling in New Zealand
✅ Meet like-minded people in an inclusive and welcoming environment
✅ Gain experience in English language education and community support
✅ Develop greater awareness of the challenges faced by former refugees and migrants

Volunteer opportunities include:
📚 ESOL Classes — work alongside teachers, supporting students individually or in small groups

No teaching qualifications required — just a genuine desire to help! Having ESOL experience is a bonus but not essential.
