👩🏽‍🏫 An annual survey paints a clear picture: teachers love the job, but the job is asking a lot of them.
📊 The good news: 81% of teachers say they enjoy their job, and 73% feel supported by their school to do it well.
📈 But the pressure is real. Two-thirds of teachers feel time pressure to get through content, and 31% say their workload is unmanageable. 38% also want more support teaching students with additional learning needs.
📋 NZCER has run a National Survey of Secondary Schools regularly since 2003, with the last survey of taking place in 2021. The report monitors trends over time.

🤔 How can you support your students to get enrolled to vote?
🗳️ Young people can enrol to vote from the age of 17. Once they've completed an enrolment form, when they turn 18 they'll automatically be enrolled and ready to vote!
👨🏻‍🏫 Teachers play an important part when it comes to voter enrolment. We are uniquely placed to reach students, whanau, and other members of our community who may need a trusted person to help navigate the electoral system.

💥 The Public Service Commission's anti-strike ads risked political neutrality.
🔎 The findings of a review of the Public Service Commission’s advertising condemning lawful strike action last year by tens of thousands of workers, including 21,000 PPTA members, should be of serious concern to all New Zealanders.
💬 "The fact that the Commission’s advertisements condemning lawful strike action have been found to have risked being seen as not politically neutral rings alarm bells for all of us who value democracy and workers’ legal rights in Aotearoa New Zealand," says PPTA President Chris Abercrombie. “We hope that the Public Service Commissioner reflects carefully on the findings of this review and commits to acting more wisely in future.”
