A big congratulations to team "Nothing 2.0" (Ralph, Tamati, Fletcher, and Taika) for their impressive run in the Epro 8 Inter-school competition! Winning an in-school event, an interschool round, and an interschool semi-final to reach the Grand Final and facing the best teams from across the rohe.
While the top spot eluded them this time, their dedication, skill, and teamwork were outstanding. The same is true of all our impressive inter-school teams (The Apple Crumblez, Fish and Chips, ...) and all the participants at our kura who tackled this challenge. We look forward to building on the success next year.

Board Statement on Proposed Removal of School Board Obligation to Give Effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi via the Education and Training Amendment Act (No2).
Kia ora e te whānau
Recently, the government introduced a Bill to amend the Education and Training Act 2020, which will remove the obligations of school boards to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
The Board of Trustees will be writing a letter to the Minister of Education to state our opposition to this amendment.
The amendment undermines the partnership between tāngata whenua and the Crown. It also deprioritises equity, inclusion and cultural identity. As a Māori immersion provider, we are proud of the way te kura o Ōtari upholds these values, which are core across all strands.
The potential changes to the Act will not affect our ongoing commitment to the integral place of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all areas of school life. This ongoing commitment is reflected in our Treaty of Waitangi policy. As a Board, we are committed to ensuring that Te Tiriti o Waitangi continues to inform our governance and decision making.
A petition, started by the National Iwi Chairs Forum, calls on the Prime Minister and Minister of Education to immediately reverse this amendment, and we encourage you to support this.

This group of Ōtari actors throughly enjoyed participating in "Primarily Playing Shakespeare" today, along with 5 other schools (and I throughly enjoyed working with them over the past two terms )
Thou didst mesmerize the audience with thy brilliant acting!
