Our tamariki used cups, craft sticks, and small animal figures to design and build their own bridges. They carefully balanced the sticks across the cups, testing different ways to connect the structures and create pathways for the animals to travel across.
Through this hands-on experience, children explored early engineering and mathematical concepts such as balance, stability, spatial awareness, and problem-solving.

Tamariki are having fun with paint this week. They are learning different ways to use paint. Today, they used playdough cutters to make colourful prints. Tamariki are developing their creativity and fine motor skills and developing their working theories as well as exploring through using their senses.

Our tamariki used playdough to shape and create numbers. As they rolled, stretched, and formed the playdough, they were strengthening their fine motor skills while becoming familiar with number recognition.

Measurement can be explored as a fun and creative way at Discovery! Our tamariki used blocks to measure different items, they carefully counted how many blocks long or tall each item was and compared them with one another.
This learning experience developed their early mathematical concepts such as measurement, counting, problem-solving and comparing sizes.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums!
This week, our tamariki celebrated Mother’s Day by creating beautiful handmade cards filled with love, creativity, and imagination. The children carefully decorated their cards with flowers, lovely patterns, and plenty of special drawings for their mums.
Through this meaningful experience, the children expressed their love and appreciation while developing their creativity, fine motor skills, and communication skills.

In Cottage we have been learning about ANZAC Day. The tamariki enjoyed making their own poppies using paper plates and paint. This sees them developing creativity, oral language through colour names in English and Te Reo and fine motor skills.

Our tamariki are learning the alphabet through letter matching games. They enjoyed them and had so much fun finding and matching letters. It supports children's early literacy development, including letter recognition and awareness, as well as fine motor skills.

The children had an exciting time making delicious Easter cupcakes, decorating colourful Easter eggs, and creating their very own adorable Easter headbands.
It was wonderful to see their smiles, imagination, and teamwork shining through in every activity.
