Sorry but this workshop for 20th June 2026 has sold out. But if you'd like to be added to the waitlist or receive an email update for the next one please fill in the below form anyway.
We are excited to now offer a hands-on Rēwena Bread Making Workshop for anyone who would like to learn how to make their own rēwena bread at home in time for Matariki ✨.
Join us in learning the art of traditional rēwena bread making in a workshop designed for both beginners and experienced bakers. Throughout the day, you will learn how to make rēwena bread from scratch, care for and maintain a live bug, and gain practical knowledge to continue your bread-making journey at home.
This is a 6-hour workshop to allow adequate time for the rēwena breads to rise. While the breads are rising, we will spend time together in wānanga, sharing kōrero about the history and practice of rēwena bread making, troubleshooting tips, and connecting over kai.
Workshop participants will:
🍞 Make and take home 2 fresh rēwena breads
🫙 Receive a 50-year-old rēwena bug to continue baking at home
👩🏽🍳 Receive hands-on guidance throughout the workshop
📖 Take home instructions, storage tips, and bug maintenance guidance
🥣 Learn about preparation, equipment, and troubleshooting
💬 Be added to an online support group and cohort community
🍲 Enjoy morning tea and lunch provided on the day
