Welcome to our family run, home like early childhood centre. We provide a warm and exciting learning environment for children aged 6 months to 5 years.

We promote a play based education. Children learn best through play, and here they can play all day! Johnsonville Childcare is a family run, purpose-built early childhood. With two separate classrooms, specifically designed and planned for children’s age range, we combine the feel of a home environment with space and resources to promote healthy development for all children. ආයුබෝවන් (āyubōwan) whānau,

Today, we are looking back how we celebrated Sri Lankan New Year at our centre. From making "Kiribath" (Coconut milk rice) to playing "raban" (Sri Lankan drums) and dressing up in red, so much fun we had!

This week our Nursery has been been focusing on ball games. We have been playing a variety of different games using balls. This is great for children's gross motor skills and hand/eye coordination.⚽️🏀🏈⚾️

Recently we celebrated Holi a Hindi festival of colour and love.

होली के रंग आपकी जिंदगी में उमंग और उत्साह भर दें। हैप्पी होली!
(May the colours of Holi fill your life with joy and enthusiasm. Happy Holi!)

On Wednesday a group of our Tui tamariki embarked on a hikoi (walk) up Mt Kau Kau, our local Maunga (mountain). It was a beautiful day to spend outdoors. This hikoi is a great way for tamariki to explore the natural world around them, being in amongst our native bush and seeing our beautiful city and beyond from such a high view point. Walking through the ngahere (forest), was so special as we were surrounded by the sounds of our local birdlife and the call of the cicada's.

Our tamariki were amazing as they persevered and problem solved through some challenging terrain showing them just how strong and capable their minds and body are. Kai pai tamariki!

We also couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a play at the playground before catching the train back to the Centre. What a fabulous way to spend the day!

Nothing better than enjoying a warm crumble made from fruit we picked ourselves. Last week the Classroom enjoyed the fruits of our labour, harvesting rhubarb grown in our maāra (garden).

Simple moments, sweet memories, delicious kai (food).🍎

There is nothing sweeter than watching kids turn imagination into adventure. Recently the Classroom have been camping! We set up a tent, created a 'campfire' and made some marshmallows to toast. Who doesn't love camping over summer! 🏕️✨

Our Nursery tamariki have been enjoying sensory powder paint to celebrate the New Year together. They have been experimenting with different textures and colours as a way to express their creativity. 🎨🎉
