πŸŽ„ Newtown Toastmasters – End of Year Update πŸŽ„
As we wrap up the year, we’ve completed our final club meeting of 2024. Our last session featured Interpretive Readings, with members delivering engaging oratorical speeches, monologues, and story readings - a great way to close out the year.
Earlier in December, we also enjoyed our social club potluck dinner, a relaxed evening of shared food, good company, and festive cheer.
We’d like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season, and thank all our members and guests for being part of Newtown Toastmasters this year.

πŸ“… Our first meeting back will be on Monday, 27th January, at the Newtown Community Centre. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year!

At Newtown Toastmasters, we don’t just grow our speaking skills, we grow friendships too. With daylight saving giving us brighter evenings, we gathered at Regal for a social dinner full of laughter, lively conversations, and great food. 😍🍲🦐🍷

✨ Farewell Chris ✨

Tonight we celebrated our fellow Toastmaster Chris in his final meeting with us before he embarks on an exciting new career in Canada next month! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Chris has left a big mark on our club. Known for his confident, powerful voice and commanding body language, he rarely needed notes to deliver a speech that grabbed our attention. He first discovered his interest in public speaking through a course in high school, and once he began working, he soon found our club and joined to continue developing those skills.

Over the years, Chris entertained and inspired us with speeches ranging from Scuba to AI, Crosswords and Booksmart. As the youngest in our club (and the one who definitely brought down our average age πŸ˜‰), Chris might never reply to your emails (because he knows not to waste time reading them), but he could always be counted on to show up, step into any role, and deliver it with reliability and energy.

We’re sad to see him go, but so proud of where he’s headed. Chris, thank you for everything you’ve brought to our meetings – and we wish you every success as you start this exciting new chapter in Canada! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘
