⚽ What a finish to the season for our Junior A Football team!
The boys wrapped up their season in style with an impressive 6–3 victory! It was fantastic to see the team finish on such a positive note, with some great additions strengthening the squad along the way.
A special shout-out to our student coach, Kaleb, who stepped up to support the team towards the end of the season. Kaleb did an outstanding job working with the boys, and the wonderful feedback from parents is a testament to the impact he made. His commitment, encouragement and support have been greatly appreciated.
Well done to the entire Junior A Football team on a fantastic season, and thank you to Kaleb for helping the boys finish on a high. 👏⚽

Congratulations to Our Golf Representatives!
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of three of our students who proudly represented Wellington at the Wellington vs Auckland Golf Representative Fixture in Taupō over the weekend.
* Apirana Ngarimu — Wellington Men’s Team
* Olivia Lu — Wellington Women’s Team
* Mutu Ngarimu — Wellington Under 19 Boys Team
Earning selection to represent your region is a significant achievement and a wonderful reflection of the dedication, discipline and commitment each of these students has shown throughout their golfing journey. We are thrilled to see Apirana, Olivia and Mutu competing at such a high level and wearing the Wellington colours with pride.
And the exciting news doesn’t stop there!
Apirana, Mutu and Olivia have also qualified to represent Whitby Collegiate at the upcoming New Zealand Secondary Schools Golf Championship in Christchurch at the end of August.
Competing on the national stage against teams from 23 of the country’s leading secondary schools is a remarkable achievement. Their selection is a testament to the countless hours of practice, perseverance and determination they have invested in their sport, and we could not be prouder of what they have accomplished.
As they prepare to take on some of the best secondary school golfers from across Aotearoa, we wish Apirana, Olivia and Mutu every success in Christchurch. It is a privilege to see our students representing Whitby Collegiate at this level and showcasing not only their golfing talent, but the commitment and character that make them such wonderful ambassadors for our school.
Congratulations, Apirana, Olivia and Mutu — your Whitby Collegiate community is incredibly proud of you and will be cheering you on every step of the way.
Good luck in Christchurch, and go Whitby Collegiate!

Grandparents’ Morning 2026💙
Last Friday, we had the privilege of welcoming our wonderful grandparents to Whitby Collegiate for our annual Grandparents’ Morning.
It was a lovely morning filled with connection, laughter and special moments, as our grandparents enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and watching our students perform. It was wonderful to see so many proud smiles and happy faces throughout the morning.
A special mention goes to Head Girl Evie Haughton’s grandmother, Mrs Kerry Muller, who delivered a beautiful and heartfelt speech that was warmly received by everyone in attendance.
A huge thank you also goes to our wonderful student helpers for their time and support in making the morning such a success.
And, last but certainly not least, a heartfelt thank you to Ms Sauvao for organising such a special event, and to our Parents’ Association for providing the delicious morning tea and helping create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Thank you to all our grandparents for joining us and making the morning so memorable. It was a privilege to celebrate you and the important role you play in the lives of our students.

What a BIG week for our Senior A Netball team! 🏐💙
Fresh from an outstanding win over Paraparaumu College in the Secondary School League on Monday night, the team backed it up with a thrilling performance in the Kapi Mana Premier 2 final last night.
In a hard-fought, nail-biting contest against Mana College, the team found themselves 10 goals down but showed incredible resilience to fight their way back into the game. They never gave up, finishing just one goal short at 41–42.
While the result wasn’t quite what we hoped for, we couldn’t be prouder of the way our team played. Their tenacity, determination and never-give-up attitude embodied everything we ask of our students through the Whitby Way.
Congratulations to Mana College on a fantastic win, and thank you for such a competitive and exciting final. 👏
A huge thank you to our Head Coach, Frances Solia, and Manager, Izzy Ford, for the countless hours of dedication and support that go into performances like this.
Now, it’s on to the Lower North Island Netball Championships in Tournament Week! We can’t wait to see what this team can achieve. 💙
Go Whitby! 💙🏐

🏔️ Year 12 Queenstown Adventure
Our Year 12 students have had an incredible few days in Queenstown, making the most of the spectacular weather and everything this alpine playground has to offer.
Alongside plenty of adventure, the trip provided an authentic setting for students to complete their assessments in risk management within an alpine environment, putting their learning into practice beyond the classroom.
After two full days on the mountain, there were certainly a few sore bodies! A huge thank you to Mr Fiso for generously allowing the group to use the family home in Arrowtown as a place to rest and recharge at the end of each busy day.
And special thank you to Ms Ansell, Mr O’Neill and Ms Newlands for their time, care and support of our students throughout the trip.
What a memorable few days of learning, adventure and plenty of Queenstown magic! 🏔️❄️

Our Cultural Group took to the stage last Friday for the Te Kiwa Nui Festival, sharing their cultures with pride in front of families, friends, and staff. This performance was dedicated to the memory of Mr Tony Hanning.
In the lead-up to the festival, our students were reminded of the importance of discipline, commitment, and focus, and of honouring the sacrifices, prayers, and support of their families. Their hard work showed on the night, and we're incredibly proud of every one of them.
We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the mothers and grandmothers who gave their time and talent to making our costumes. Our students could not have graced the stage looking so beautiful without your generosity.
Thank you to our former students, Aifili Masoe and Nadia Roach, for their ongoing support and mentorship of the group. And a massive thank you to our student photographers Hudson Swain and Yufan Lu for capturing these amazing photos throughout the festival.

🏐 A great day out for our Whitby Collegiate Senior A Netball team at yesterday's CSW Senior Championships, finishing 7th overall.
The team played some really strong netball throughout the day, finishing four places higher than last year and competing well against some tough opposition from across the region.
It's great to see the hard work this group has put in paying off and the improvement they've made over the past year. Well done, team! 💙💛
