Finally after a long 4 years, the diggers broke ground today for our new 5 classrooms which are due to be finished mid December. There was lots of excited students today watching the digger and the truck.

Bring along your family and friends to our Parish/School Gala being held at our school this SUNDAY. Our part of the proceeds is going towards a Junior Playground which the children are currently designing in their classes.

Yesterday our school was represented by two great Year 8 students at the KCDC ceremonial tree planting at Ferndale Reserve, Waikanae. This was in honour of the coronation of King Charles III. The students planted a Kahikatea tree alongside other school representatives from the Kāpiti area.

A huge thank you to our 2022 Student Council who used some of their fundraising money to buy some football nets for us. They arrived yesterday and we had some happy students using them today!

Our Student Council ran an appeal for families that have been affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. Thank you so much to our OLOK families for your generous donations today and tomorrow. Room 9 and Ms Kerse sorted, boxed todays donations up and put them on a trailer. This is Common Good in action.

Lent has begun at our school. On Shrove Tuesday we had classes make and eat pancakes. We also had a special Liturgy with Fr Raymond and burnt the old palms to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday. Then the school led the Ash Wednesday Mass with the Parish.

Busy start to the year...unfortunately we didn't get to the Waikanae Pools this week but we did get to celebrate our first assembly hosted by MacKillop on Thursday, School Mass in Week 1 and our first whole school Kapa Haka today. Have a great weekend everyone!

We are soooo looking forward to having all our children back with us on Tuesday. We hope you have had a wonderful break enjoying this fabulous weather.
Our first event of the year is a Cyber Safety Evening for our OLOK parents happening on Wednesday 1 February, 7-9pm in our hall. Please see the attached promotion video of the event. We hope to see a representative from each of our families attend this important workshop for our school community.

Our Kapahaka Performance Group was asked to be part of the blessing of the new Mātahi Tamariki Books collection on Friday. On display is two tukutuku panels that was made in 1978 with kuia and St Patrick's Students, which made it a special link to us. We were so proud of the groups performance, they blew us away!
