Congratulations to Sera Muringathery who was recently presented with an 'Absolutely Positively Student Award' by Wellington Mayor, Andrew Little. Sera received the award for her work on the free lunch initiative here at the College. It was lovely to hear Sera and all the other worthy recipients from other colleges talk about the outstanding things they do in their school communities. Thank you, Sera, for your valuable contribution to our community.

Over the past two days, around 200 of our students have visited the relic of St Carlo Acutis at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Learning about the life of St Carlo, the first millennial saint, and getting up close the holy relics has been a fascinating experience. Time was also spent in reflective prayer.
A big thank you goes to our hosts at the Cathedral for their warm welcome and sharing their knowledge with us.

🎶 Time for the Big Sing! On Thursday our choir, Cordia, will take the stage at the Michael Fowler Centre in a two-day festival of secondary school choral music. We wish them all the very best!
🎶 Today was the final rehearsal. Under the direction of Sharon Yearsley, and accompanied by ukuleles and guest pianist Alex, the group is sounding fantastic. You'll want to go and hear them!
🎶 For ticketing and scheduling details, head to the Wellington Regional Big Sing website - see link in the comments.

Yesterday was Market Day, with all sorts of goodies available for sale. From hair slick sticks, lip balm and looped charms, to candles, stress balls and professional photos, students could purchase a wide range of products that were being marketed by groups from our Year 10 Commerce class. Great fun, and everyone was a winner!

Our students are having fun participating in a new robotics club, Pōneke AI Robot League, run in partnership with the VUW Engineering School and Matamoe Innovation Hub. Recently, prizes were up for grabs as students manoeuvred their robots through a circuit of paper cups. Whose creation would turn out to be “the car you wouldn’t want to be in” or “have the most moves”? The top programming honours went to Harshika and Aneetta for having the tightest and most efficient navigation, but everyone had a lot of fun!

Last Friday, three of our students were recognised for their outstanding talents at the Ministry of Education 2026 Ethnic Youth Awards, held at Bishop Viard College. Our warmest congratulations go to Year 13 students Claire Gelido and Sera Muringathery, for their Academic Excellence Awards, and to our immediate past Head Girl of 2025, Lynda Rabeni-Vatuloka for her Leadership Award. We are tremendously proud of you all.
