This week saw another stunning session filled with child led play. Days on the beach bring such beautiful moments of creativity and connection - there's something magical in the sea air! As winter has crept in we have enjoyed cool, crisp mornings and plenty of sunshine - how good is this season in Wellington ?!

Its such an honour that you choose to spend your Thursday mornings with us 💚

We love Thursdays!!

"Adults, on the whole, struggle with this.
We want to help. We want to feel useful. We want to see the learning so that we feel like we are doing our job. But often, the best thing we can do is step back." 👏👏👏

It's been a minute since I hopped on here with an update about what's going on with Muddy Toes. I'm the very first to admit that my social media game is not what it should be, but here I am!

We are well into the swing of term 2, and as we start to see those cooler mornings creeping in, it's time to think about getting out those winter layers - think merino, polypro and fleece (in that order!) with a rainjacket on the top. Several thinner layers>one thick one! From this time of year gumboots are a must, and double on those socks (and bring spares!!)....

This term is a long one, and we will run through to 2nd July with no planned breaks - but we always recommend checking in with your emails before you set off just in case of cancellations due to sickness or weather. We will always try not to cancel so rest assured this will only be in very rare circumstances!

I have a few winter events planned for our signed up members, including a weekend winter campfire feast and a night walk for glow-worm spotting. I also hope that we can run another school holiday session in the July holidays which we hope to open up more widely. If there's anything else that you would like to see from us then feel free to contact me or grab me on session - I always love to chat!

I have also started some tentative plans for our 2026 Spring Camp which is going to be genuinely EPIC! If you are signed up or on our alumni list you'll be getting an email for expressions of interest later this term so watch out for that if you're keen to join.

We do have a few spots left in our sessions this term, so if you are keen then please let me know via email or dm - the form is currently closed as I've been a bit slammed with not too much time to check in with admin but I am picking up messages sent to me directly.

That's all from me. If you are heading to our session this week then please share any photos with me or tag us in your stories - we love to see what you get up to !

Our school holiday playgroup was a BLAST! It was so great to see some new faces, reconnect with old friends and see mixed age play in all it's loud, messy glory. It was such a good example of what childhood should be - unstructured, led by kids and not adults, and OUTDOORS!

Our new portable mud kitchen (thanks !) was crowded with tiny people mixing, pouring and scooping. The big kids enjoyed wild swinging in the hammock and the pile of log pieces were explored by young and old - I'll be feeding back to that these need to be a permanent feature!

We hadn't done one of these in a while but it was such a hit that we'll definitely be looking to do it all again next hols. Who's in?!
