Friends of Mahu (FOM) are very proud to present our first Parent Evening for 2021 and the first in a very long time due to an unprecedented 2020!

The evening will still be subject to Government Covid Alert Levels, but we wanted to give you all something to look forward to. All going well, we are so excited to announce that next Wednesday 24 February Richie Hardcore will be visiting Mahurangi College speaking about his idea of the new masculinity. Sharing ideas of consent, wellbeing and how to end r**e culture, alcohol and p**n abuse. He is an amazingly passionate speaker to young people and will be talking to our Year 9&10 and Y11-13 students during the day, and then again to parents and caregivers in the evening (6PM).

Entry will be a koha at the door and super will be provided by Friends of Mahu. Please note the evening content addresses issues of p**n, sexuality and Richie has a candid way he addresses the crowd. Therefore the evening is only suitable for Year 7 students and older, accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Any Year 13 students who wish to donate their uniform to our school UniCycle please drop off at Student Services into the Unicycle wheelie bin.

Need another reason to support our UniCycle programme? While UniCycle is not a fundraising focused initiative, all proceeds from our UniCycle programme are forwarded to the College's Make it Happen Fund. This fund is set up to help our families who are struggling to cover the costs of school and/or sports uniforms, school camps and sporting or other school fees. In addition to saving money and landfill, by purchasing second hand uniform through UniCycle, or by donating uniform, you are helping to ensure that all our students have as full a school life as possible. It's win / win! Our uniform collection bin sits at student reception on a regular basis. Our next sale day will be the first Friday Term two, 1 May 1.30-3.30pm.

Don't forget our first Friends of Mahu meeting of the year is on next Monday 24 February 6pm in the Staffroom. This is our first meeting of only three, that we hold for the year, so if you are able to get along it would be great to have your input. Everyone is welcome :)
