Urgent Call for Cross Country Volunteers – Tomorrow!

Kia ora Wakefield School whānau,

Tomorrow (Wednesday 17 June) is our Year 0–3 and Year 7–8 Cross Country, and we're on the lookout for a few more volunteers to help make the event run safely and smoothly.

We urgently need a handful of adults to assist as course marshals around the track between approximately 11:00am and 1:00pm.

It’s Quiz Week!

The Wakefield School quiz is this Friday 19th June from 6:30pm. We can fit only 3 more tables so if you’re keen to enter a team do it before this Wednesday to ensure you don’t miss out in all the fun, while simultaneously supporting our wonderful school.

If you’re a business owner you can support our quiz by “sponsoring a table.” The cost is $50 and you get to decorate the table with your advertising material. You’ll also be thanked as one of our quiz sponsors with acknowledgement on the night and through our page. We’d love to have every table sponsored and are half towards that :-)

Breakfast Club – Off to a Fantastic Start!

Our Breakfast Club has now been up and running for a couple of weeks, and it has been wonderful to see manaakitanga in action across our school.

Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, tamariki have been gathering in the Hall to share breakfast, connect with friends, and start the day in a warm and welcoming environment.

A huge shout-out to our amazing Wakefield School PTC volunteers who have worked so hard behind the scenes to get this initiative off the ground. Your generosity, time, and care are making a real difference for our students and whānau.

We would love to see even more of our tamariki and rangatahi come along!

PJ Day Tomorrow!

Remember, tomorrow (Tuesday 9 June) is PJ Day at Wakefield School!

Students are invited to come to school wearing their favourite pyjamas as we celebrate the wonderful manaakitanga being shown across our school.

Over the past few weeks, students have been earning tokens for demonstrating respect, care, and kindness in our classrooms and playground. They then voted for a reward, and PJ Day was the clear winner!

We are incredibly proud of the way our tamariki look after one another and live our values every day.

Cross Country Parent Helpers Needed 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

After weather disruptions, we are looking forward to running an adapted Year 4–6 Cross Country on Monday afternoon.

To ensure we can complete the event between 1.50pm and 3.00pm, we will need to move quickly and would greatly appreciate some extra helping hands...

We are looking for parent volunteers to assist with:

Course set up from 11.00am (meeting in the Hall)

Course marshalling from 1.50pm and we are meeting in the libary at 1.20pm

These events couldn't happen without the support of our whānau, and any time you can give would be hugely appreciated.

A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing PTC! Wakefield School PTC

What a fantastic evening we had at the Wakefield School Junior and Senior PJ Discos on Friday night!

A huge thank you to our incredible PTC team for organising such a fun, well-run event for our tamariki and rangatahi.

It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, impressive pyjamas, enthusiastic dancers!

A very special thank you also goes to our amazing DJ, Whaea Emily, who kept the dance floor pumping all evening and helped create such a fun and energetic atmosphere.

Also a big thank you to the parents, whānau, and staff who supported the event and helped make it such a success.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive and hardworking PTC and school community.

It's a busy week for the PTC, so a couple of reminders of what's on

Disco
Reminder that the Pyjama Disco is on Friday - Pyjamas optional of course. The times are a bit earlier and we are trialling having a sausage sizzle in between, to help with any hangriness (children or parents)!
Entry is $2 per child, sausages $2 and we will have the usual lolly bags/chips/light up items for sale during. There is water available but much easier to manage if your child can bring their water bottle.

Junior (year 0-3) 4:40-5:15
Sausage Sizzle 5:15- 5:45
Senior (year 4-8) 5:45 - 6:45

Breakfast Club
We had our first breakfast club today and it went really well. Around 35 kids came through for weetbix or toast and it was a really enjoyable fun atmosphere.
Breakfast Club is open to anyone who wants to come along and for the rest of this term will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
If you think you may be interested in helping out, pop in one day and check it out and have a chat.

PTC Meeting
And while you are reading this, our next PTC meeting is next week, Thursday the 11th straight after school in the staffroom. Feel free to drop in and see what its all about - you don't have to join but we are always for fundraising ideas, input into what we spend our funds on, and to increase our contact list of parents who can help out every now and then.
