Happy Grandparents Day!
We recognise and honour the special role that grandparents play in the lives of their mokopuna (grandchildren). It is a privilege for grandparents and grandchildren to spend time together, and the benefits for both are huge.
Research shows that tamariki with a high level of grandparental involvement have fewer emotional and behavioural problems, and elderly people who babysit live longer, stay more physically active, and improve their cognitive functioning.
