We started the company in 2008 because we wanted to stop the unnecessary damage to young dancer’s feet. Young dancers are often put on pointe, lacking strength throughout the body, as well as technique and placement. Often they are also in the middle of their second growth spurt (can be anywhere between the ages of 11 and 14), when they are most vulnerable. During this period 6 – 9 months, proprio

ception is often interrupted and the control of the body is lost or lacking. Education is the key coupled with a full assessment of the dancer and looking at her feet in great detail. We assess a dancer fully, give her a full report with photos, the appropriate exercises and teach her how to tape the feet so that the toes are kept long and the intrinsic muscles in the feet start to be trained. We prefer to put dancers into demi-pointe shoes long before they get anywhere near a pointe shoe. We aim to look after the dancer before pointe work begins and then see them on a regular basis to keep checking their feet and eventually pointe shoes. We also train people to do this job and encourage them to open their own dedicated pointe shoe fitting centres. In this way our message can be spread far and wide!

✨ Reintroducing Michelle Deschamps ✨

We are delighted to welcome back Michelle Deschamps to the Pointe Shoe Summit team as a presenter and valued member of our professional community.

Michelle is the Director and Owner of Royal Ballet, a centre dedicated to classical ballet, with a strong focus on technique, effortless movement, injury prevention and promoting muscle longevity. She is also the Founder of En Pointe Pointe Shoe Fitting, bringing her knowledge and experience to the world of pointe shoe fitting.

A Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, Michelle holds a Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies and has further training in Progressing Ballet Technique and the Juon Pointe System.

With over 25 years of involvement in promoting cultural and artistic events in her hometown, Michelle brings a wealth of experience, passion and knowledge to the Pointe Shoe Summit.

We are excited to have Michelle back with us in Singapore! ✨
