Join our fun and inspiring after-school art classes. Our Arty Creatives program is designed to encourage creativity and inspire the imagination of young artists. So excited to be a part of Lift Off Festival, celebrating creativity for children. Along with a wonderful program of events throughout next week, there will be a whānau day on Saturday 13th April with a whole day of fun, free and interactive creative events.
You will find me in The Art Room from 10am to 3pm with some spacey art activities to get stuck into.
What better way to kick off the school holidays!

Painted a van and thought she deserved a little post. SnugBug, it was lovely to give you some personality and colour. Give her a wave if you see her driving around the Hawke's Bay beaches.

Nature Mandalas was such a lovely activity. A rare moment of quiet and calm! Team work, symmetry and composition. We chatted about temporary installations in art and nature, and what else we could do with what we find outside. Amazing ideas and creativity from my little artists.

Art classes for term 4! Book now, there are a few spaces up for grabs for fun filled, creative after school classes.

🖌 Explore, learn and create in Arty Creatives with a focus on the making and doing. Encouraging imagination and creativity with art activities, problem solving, quality art materials, games and more. For 5 to 10 year olds.

✏️ Drawing Club in also back for term 4. An encouraging space to learn drawing techniques with creative drawing activities using a variety of materials for mark making and experimentation. For ages 11 plus.

I love a good paint mixing session. Especially all the wonderful names they come up with for colours. They were encouraged to create colour palettes including a range of colours they thought went well together, and they came up with beautiful, well thought out palettes. Pretty intuitive paint mixing from everyone!

We made some pretty weird and wonderful creatures this week. Using our imaginations to combine animals and create new species! Chicken-squid, Crocodile-whale, Elephant-dog, Octopus-lion-pirate and many more!
Using painted card we made last week, along with some split pins for moving parts. This really engaged and challenged everyone with tricky shapes to cut out, to figuring out how to make each part move.
From concept to creation, they all did a wonderful job!

Drawing Club have been very focused the last couple of weeks, working on their ink cat illustrations. Working through a few techniques of image transfer, studying tones, and working with indian ink and nibs.
Love watching their confidence grow with mark making and trying new things! 🐱

A little mural project that I completed earlier this year for Chorus and the council. I loved doing this one, a really cool initiative to bring some colour and creativity to our neighbourhoods. Inspired by my kid's love of exploring the rockpools at our wonderful local beaches, and my love of cheeky seagulls. 🦀
You can find this little work of art on Porangahau Road next to Blondies.
