TEACHER ONLY DAY
A final reminder: Teacher Only Day is on Friday. No school for your tamariki. I’m sure you have plenty of jobs for them to do around the house, so now is the time to hand them the list! 🤭Our teachers will be working away, enhancing our knowledge around the new Maths and Statistics Curriculum alongside several other schools in the local area.
Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week
Week 9, 14th - 18th September is New Zealand’s Māori Language Week. We will be joining schools around the country in celebrating this week with Te Reo (language) and Tikanga (cultural) activities, and we invite the whole community to join in the fun. On Wednesday, September 16th, we are opening our doors! We welcome not only our current parents, grandparents, and school families, but also anyone in our local community who would like to check out fabulous Omakere School. We know many of you are curious to see our new buildings—and meet our new Principal!
We are also using this opportunity to build community voice for our next Strategic Plan starting in 2027. If you know people who have an investment in this great little school, bring them along and let’s hear their hopes and aspirations for Omakere and its tamariki.

Time to check the school bags, kitchen benches, car gloveboxes and that mysterious pile of papers on the bench… 😂
ALL Father’s Day Mega Raffle tickets and money need to be back at school by Thursday 3rd September!
Because Friday 4th is a Teacher Only Day, we’re bringing the excitement forward and will draw our 3 AMAZING prize draws at lunchtime on Thursday so that the prizes can wing their way to the winners after school! 🎉🎉🎉
So get those last-minute tickets sold, round up the money, and send everything back to school by Thursday. We don’t want any winning tickets hiding at the bottom of a school bag! 😱

Camp Pōhutukawa. Pōhutukawa is off to camp at Tutira tomorrow. Guthrie Smith is an incredible camp, and we know our tamariki will have a great time away. Make sure you’ve checked all your emails to make sure your child is fully equipped. More is better - within reason!
