Tongan Language Week
Malo e lelei!
This week we are celebrating Tongan language week. As part of this, we invited Ana’s family to come and share their language and culture with us.

Ana, her mum Feao and auntie Malia came dressed in their traditional Tongan clothes. They also brought special Tapa or Ngatu and the fine woven mat called Kie Tonga to show us.

Feao and Ana taught us the Tongan alphabet sing and Tongan counting. We also got to look at accessories which Ana was wearing as part of her Tongan outfit. The bag is called Kato, the Fan is i and Kafa Pulu is the belt, which is made from coconut husk fiber. Kapa Fulu has tiny flowers attached to it which are made from tiny shells.

We are proud of Ana and feeling grateful towards her family for sharing their beautiful taonga with us - their language and culture.
Thanks you Feao, Malia and Ana. Malo Aupito !

Ko ‘etua lea, ko e fe’unu mahu’inga ia ki he mo’ui’a e Tonga

This Friday 16th May is Pink Shirt Day!!
Pink Shirt Day highlights the importance of standing up to stop bullying - help us show support for this cause by bringing tamriki to Kindy dressed in PINK on Friday!
We will be collecting koha (gold coin donation) to pass on to the organisation - however this is voluntary - please don't feel like you have to contribute. We just want everyone to come and have a FUN PINK DAY at kindy.

Kia Ora Whānau,
Welcome back to term 2 for 2025!
We hope you are settling back well. This term Chelsea will be returning to Stokes Valley Kindergarten in the Relieving Head Teacher Role so today will be her last day here for now. We will have Fiona Hunt Relieving here at Pukeatua in the meantime.
Just a reminder that communication can go a long way when we are dealing with tamariki routines etc and it helps us to know any information so we can understand certain behaviours. Please have a chat to staff if there are things happening at home that might affect your child's day - whether that would be their mood, health, emotional state etc even knowing if they had a bad sleep can help us to understand why someone might not be their usual self.
Wishing everyone a great day

Kia Ora Whānau
A huge thank you to everyone who has been selling raffle tickets, and donating for our Easter raffle - keep those tickets and payments coming in, if you need more please ask Janelle or Nathalie.
In order for our prizes to be really awesome (and more prizes to win) we still need lots more donations of 'Easter' themed goodies and eggs, chocolate etc. If you can help - just bring them along and hand over to a staff member - it is much appreciated!
The raffle will be drawn in the last week of term - Thursday 10th April 2025
