What a busy and exciting week at Kindergarten!

From dressing in yellow for Daffodil Day and coming to kindy in our PJs, to getting our hands dirty planting alongside Bunnings — there has been plenty of fun, learning and mahi happening!

A wonderful week filled with laughter, creativity, connection and plenty of hands-on learning. Ka pai, tamariki! 💚🌱

🍋 Experimenting, exploring and discovering at kindy!

Today our tamariki became little scientists, exploring what happens when we combine lemons and baking powder! There was plenty of fizzing, bubbling, poking and observing as curiosity led the way. 🧪✨

Hands-on experiments like these encourage tamariki to wonder, investigate and discover through play.

He wā ako, he wā tūhura — a time for learning and exploration!

Colour, texture and creativity.

This week, our tamariki have been exploring art through layering colour, printing and painting. With each new layer, they have been thoughtfully making decisions, experimenting with different techniques and watching their ideas transform.

A beautiful example of intentional, thoughtful and creative expression — where the process is just as important as the finished artwork. 🌈

A very special lamb came to visit us at kindergarten! Our tamariki enjoyed gentle interactions with our little visitor, before getting stuck into hammering, exploring and play.

Through these experiences, our tamariki are learning to care, connect and contribute — building confidence, curiosity and a sense of belonging.

He taonga te ako – learning is precious.

📚 As we look ahead to Aotearoa Book Week, we're celebrating the many ways emergent literacy is nurtured through play at Waimauku Kindergarten.

By exploring books, magazines, images and creating their own stories, our tamariki are developing oral language, vocabulary, fine motor skills and an understanding that print carries meaning. Every conversation, story and creative experience helps build the foundations for a lifelong love of literacy.

He taonga te reo – language is a treasure. 💛

This week has been filled with laughter, learning, creativity, and exploration as our tamariki followed their interests through play. From working together, solving problems, to celebrating friendships and discovering new ideas, every day has been full of meaningful moments.

We are so proud of the curiosity, manaakitanga, and kaitiakitanga our tamariki show as they learn and grow together. 💚
