Our Home School Lunch on the last day of term was a huge success and absolutely delicious!

A special thank you to Chopped Butchery for generously donating the first 100 sausages. They tasted amazing—Chopped always makes a top-quality snag, and everyone really enjoyed them.

This time we trialled brownies instead of cookies, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, so keep an eye out for more tasty trials at future Home School Lunches!

Thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy lunch with your tamariki and whānau. We love seeing our school community come together and appreciate your support in making these events so special.

From all of us on the FAST Committee, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and relaxing school holiday. We look forward to seeing you all next term!

🌟 Check out our fantastic new sandpit storage! 🌟

A huge thank you to Ross Hedley for sorting this out for us. Ross is always going above and beyond to support our school, and we are so grateful for the time, effort, and care he puts into helping make our learning environment even better for our tamariki.
The new storage will help keep our sandpit toys organised, protected, and ready for lots of imaginative play. Thank you, Ross, for everything you do for our school community – your generosity and support never go unnoticed! 💙😊

We are selling delicious Fairlie Bakehouse pies for just $8.50 each or 10 pies for $80.

We were excited to provide new school t-shirts this year for students representing the school out in the community 👕💙

These t-shirts will be worn while visiting Lister Home, attending student workshops such as PALS, and at selected sporting events throughout the year.

The shirts can be worn by any students representing the school at events and activities off site, helping them feel proud, confident, and easily identifiable while out in the community.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our fundraising efforts. Your support helps us provide opportunities and resources that benefit all of our tamariki 🌟

We have started the year off with a bang for our wonderful school community

So far this year we have:

🏁 Purchased a new teardrop banner flag to use at cross country, athletics, and school events
🏀 Purchased covers for the miniball hoops
🪑 Provided bean bags for the senior school deck
🦺 Provided every student with high-vis vests for school excursions, as well as vests for all bus students to use travelling to and from school — helping keep our tamariki safe and seen
👕 Provided T-Shirts for students to wear when representing the school off-site, including their weekly visits to Lister Home, student workshops (eg PALS) and some sporting events.
🌭 Purchased a new BBQ — perfect for our Home & School lunches and future events
🧃Provided juices for every student after their Cross Country run
🥧 Our current Fairlie Bakehouse Pie Fundraiser

Still to come:
🎃 The return of our Halloween Disco
🎬 A movie event at the Regent Theatre
✨ PLUS a HUGE adults-only event coming this November… keep your eyes peeled because this is going to be a night you won’t want to miss!

Safety is something we take seriously, which is why this year we supplied personalised high-vis vests for every student 💙🦺

These vests are used for school excursions and all bus students also have access to a vest for travelling to and from school.

Helping keep our tamariki safe and visible is especially important during the darker winter mornings and when out and about in the community.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports our Home & School fundraising efforts — every pie bought, raffle ticket sold, event attended, and donation made helps us provide practical resources like these for our students 💫

Last year was such an incredible one for our Centennial School Community 💙

With the support of our amazing whānau, local businesses, volunteers, and everyone who attended our events and fundraisers, we were able to give back to the school in so many ways.

✨ In 2025 we:
🎨 Painted the playground
🏊 Contributed to painting the school pool ready for swimming season
🏖 Redesigned and installed a brand-new sandpit that doubles as a deck space
📚 Supplied Reading Eggs for the junior school
🐣 Provided Easter eggs for our Tamariki
🍽 Ran Home & School lunches at the end of each term

We also delivered some awesome community events and fundraisers including:
🎃 Halloween Disco
🎪 The reinstated School Fair
📸 Family Photoshoot Pop-Up
🍴 Catering and supplying the Year 6 Dinner
🛍 Running a stall at the Saturday Market
🥧 Fairlie Bakehouse Pie Fundraiser
🎭 Supporting the school production lighting costs through raffle ticket and snack sales

And we’re not slowing down this year 👀

🍕 Fundraising Committee Meeting Tonight! 🍟
We’re having our fundraising meeting tonight at Waimate Kitchen & Bar at 6:30pm, and anyone who would like to get involved is more than welcome to come along!
Even if you’re just curious about what we do or have some ideas for future events, we’d love to see some new faces.
Plus… it’s $20 pizza and fries tonight, so that’s a bit of a win-win! 😄
