Waikoikoi School is thrilled to be one of the worthy causes in this years Good in the Hood campaign!
If you are shopping at Z Gore, you will receive tokens to put towards your favourite local causes.
Our project is to create a community stoat trap library, with students helping to build and prepare traps that can be made available to members of our community. This is a great opportunity for our tamariki to learn about kaitiakitanga, care for our local environment and play an active role in protecting our native wildlife.

We are so excited to share that Waikoikoi School has been selected as one of the local community groups in this years Good in the Hood programme at Z Gore.

Every time you shop at Z until 14 September, you can receive a token and use it to vote for the community group you would like to support.

Our project is focused on creating a community trap library. Our students have been building stoat traps using donated materials while learning about introduced predators and the importance of protecting our native birds and wildlife.

If successful, the funding will help us continue building traps and make them available for local residents to borrow free of charge.

So if you are filling up at Z Gore, please grab a token and vote for Waikoikoi School!

Every vote will help our students continue their mahi as kaitiaki of our local environment.

A huge thank you to Z for giving local groups this opportunity and to everyone who supports our little school.

We warmly invite our whānau and community members to join us as we come together to celebrate this special occasion.

Matariki is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look ahead to the future. We are excited to honour this important occasion through learning, culture and community.
