I’ve been sitting down with interesting humans who are living a little simpler and a bit lighter on the planet.
This is Simple Chats.

My latest chat was with Petite Kitchen by Eleanor Cripps - food author, simple living advocate, and now helping women dress more intuitively. We sat in her home, talked food, clothes, and the quiet art of living with a little more intention.

I’ve mined the gold for you:

🥘 Keep cooking simple: one tray dinners, one bowl baking - fewer dishes, saves time
(one tray curry recipe👇)

👖The wardrobe edit that actually works - take out what doesn’t fit your life, tuck it away until you’re ready to let it go, and fall in love with the ease of what’s left

🩵 What we wear affects how we feel. Pay attention to how your clothes actually FEEL on your body

🍳Make the switch to cast iron - lasts a lifetime, cooks better, and none of the nasties that can come with non-stick (and easy to find secondhand)

📷 Inject a bit of analogue - books, film cameras, phone-free walks… disconnect to reconnect

More Simple Chats coming soon. Who would you love to see me sit down with?

PS: Eleanor talked me through her one-tray curry…
load chopped veg, 6-8 chicken thighs (bone-in), 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp minced ginger, 1 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp green or red curry paste, and a can of coconut milk into a tray and bake in the oven at 180C for about 45 minutes until bubbling and well-cooked. Spoon over rice or rice noodles. Simple, forgiving, less dishes and the kind of meal you come back to on repeat.

Tiny life hack: don’t get rid of your old beeswax wraps 👏

I love beeswax wraps, but after a while they can start looking a bit sad or stop sticking properly. Turns out they usually just need a little bit of love.

100°C oven
2–3 minutes on a tray with baking paper
Flap them about until they’re cool
Done ✔️

A super simple way to keep using what you already have instead of buying more.

This might look like “making”…
But it’s actually about simplifying.

Everyday life can be overflowing with endless products, steps and ingredients.

This is just one small way I’ve started to shift that…
Cutting out the clutter and making a few simple, low-tox basics myself.

Not everything. Not all the time.
Just enough to make life feel a bit lighter.

I’m sharing this (and heaps of my other favourite simple living tips) in a hands-on workshop in Tauranga…
We’ll make a few of these things together and I promise I keep it super simple and doable.

If you’re local, I’d love to see you there 💚
If you’re not, tell me where I should come next

My freezer is basically a “save it for later” drawer.

Cut up fruit that’s getting a bit soft.
Veggie offcuts from cooking.
Lunchbox leftovers.
Bread crusts and ends.

Straight into containers in the freezer.

No lids because who needs more admin?
And I use it again fast enough that I don’t need to worry about freezer burn.

It all gets used later for:
Smoothies. Soups. Crumbs. Stock. Whatever works.

And keeping it right in front so you don’t forget it exists.

It isn’t about being perfect.
It’s just making it easy enough that you actually do it.

Nothing wasted. Less thinking. Making the most of what we already have.

This is the bunting that’s been to every party in our house for years.
Made from vintage blankets, it’s hung in the lounge for every birthday.
No balloons, no disposable decorations that end up in the bin by the end of the day.

Just this.
Every time.

A simple family tradition.

The bunting goes up and everyone knows something special’s happening.
Simple, sustainable, and way more special than anything we’d buy new.
