Another fun 'On the Ball Football' event for Waikanae and Kapakapanui School on Monday!

It was a beautiful day celebrating football between our two schools.

Thanks once again to Brett Waite and Aron Bailey who ran this event for the tenth time! Such a special thing to see your own children stepping into the fold and reffing the games too! Amazing.

Can any of our past pupils remember playing over the years?

Thanks to our Kapakapanui mates, parents and teachers transporting the players up to us at Waikanae School. We enjoyed hosting you. See you at Winter Tournament and our annual Frank van Kampen memorial shield event!

🇼🇸 Samoan Language Week 🇼🇸

Room 12 has completed this colourful collaborative art project as part of Samoan Language Week. It is just a small example of what has been happening in our classrooms throughout the week.

It has been lots of fun learning new Samoan words and phrases. One of the highlights has been seeing some of our students step into the role of teacher, sharing their language, culture, and experiences with confidence and pride.

At Waikanae School, we want to celebrate everyone and the many cultures that make up our school community. We know there is so much we can learn from one another.

If you have ideas, knowledge, expertise, or cultural experiences you would be willing to share, we would love to hear from you. Whether it is language, art, music, dance, food, stories, or traditions, every contribution helps us build understanding and celebrate the diversity within our kura.

Please contact Lucy Cameron on [email protected] if you would like to be involved.

Fa’afetai tele lava!

🇼🇸 Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa | Samoa Language Week 🇼🇸

This week we celebrate Samoa Language Week, recognising the language, culture, and contributions of the Samoan community here in Aotearoa and around the world.

The 2026 theme is:

”‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu’u”
“From the high mountains are the blessings of the village.”

This theme reminds us that the strength, wisdom, and success of a community come from strong foundations, shared values, and the people who support one another.

Manuia le Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa! 🇼🇸💙

This week we celebrate and give thanks to our incredible support staff, who we simply could not operate without.

Our teacher aides Karen, Vanessa, Melissa, Alex, Heidi, Janene, Rachael, and Kayla, our office staff Fiona and Karen, our librarian Anita, and our incredible caretaker Rob, along with all the support teams behind the scenes, help keep our kura running each and every day.

They support learning, care for our tamariki, solve problems, lend a hand wherever needed, and bring warmth, patience, humour, and kindness to our school community.

Thank you for all that you do.
Waikanae School is a better place because of you.
