Principal Appreciation Day!

Today we celebrated our amazing principal, Nicola Millar, and all that she does for Waikaka School.

From the big decisions to the little things that often go unnoticed, Nicola leads our school with dedication, kindness.

Today was our chance to say thank you for everything you do. We are incredibly grateful for your leadership, encouragement, and the care you show every single day!

We hope you had a great day being celebrated ๐Ÿฅณ

Welcome Back to Term 3! It is good to be back and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

A few reminders as we get underway:

Wednesday Fish & Chips Lunches
Our Fish & Chips lunches from the Waikaka Hotel continue this term. Orders and payment need to be at the school office by 9am Wednesday morning at the latest.

Reporting Conferences โ€“ Week 2
Reporting conferences begin Monday 27 July. If you haven't already booked, appointments can be made through the Bookings button on HERO. Ten-minute appointments are available Mon, Tues or Thurs.
After reading your child's report, please make a note of any questions you may have and bring them along to your conference. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to celebrate your child's learning, discuss their progress, ask questions, and work together to support their next steps.
If none of the available appointment times suit your family, please contact your child's teacher to arrange an alternative time.

ERO Visit
This week we are looking forward to welcoming the Education Review Office (ERO) to Waikaka School. It is always a positive opportunity to have another set of professional eyes in our school, recognising what we do well and providing valuable feedback to help us continue to grow and improve. We look forward to sharing our learning journey with them.

We look forward to another fantastic term with our students and whฤnau.

Hi everyone,

Well, that's a wrap for Term 2!

Congratulations to all of our students on a fantastic term of learning, growth, and achievement. We are incredibly proud of everything that has been accomplished both in and out of the classroom. School reports will ideally go out at the end of the holidays.

We wish all of our students and whฤnau (families) a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved two-week break from school routine. Enjoy a change of pace, make some special memories, and return refreshed for another exciting term.

As many of our students head into holiday activities and competitions, we'd like to give a special shout-out to just a few of the achievements we've heard about recently.

๐Ÿ€ Congratulations to Charlie McCall on being selected for the Eastern Under 14 Basketball Team. You are a natural Charlie!

โ›ธ๏ธ Best of luck to Holly McIntyre, who has a busy schedule of ice skating competitions ahead. Holly will be competing in the Pre-Elementary 12 Years and Over category ~ an impressive achievement, particularly as she is one of the younger competitors in the field. We wish her every success.

๐ŸŽค Good luck to Erica Byars, who is singing and performing in Mosgiel over the holidays. We hope you enjoy every moment Erica.

๐ŸŽญ Congratulations to Helena Byars, who will be performing with Stage Antics and in Bad Jelly the Witch next term. We know you'll do an amazing job on stage!

We know many of our students are achieving well in sport, the arts, culture, and other pursuits. While we don't always hear about every achievement, we love celebrating them, so please keep sharing your news with us.

Just a few final photos from us to finish off the term! ๐Ÿ“ธ

Alex Byars is helping to keep our grounds looking great with the leaf blower ~ there's always something to do around Waikaka School, and we're lucky to have a team that's happy to lend a hand.

The staff enjoyed taking a little time out together for a mid-winter Christmas morning tea. Good company, plenty of laughs, and, of course, a bit of pavlova made for a lovely way to celebrate another busy term together. ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿฐ

And finally... Mrs Rufford has been busy modelling some of our 5-year-olds' lost property! We think she wears it rather well! ๐Ÿ˜‚

On that note, if your child is missing any clothing, drink bottles, or other belongings, please take a few minutes over the holidays to check our lost property bin. It is located outside Room 5 (the end classroom nearest the office). We'd love to reunite as many items as possible with their owners before next term.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

Over and out from us ~ we'll see you all back, rested and ready for another great term!
