Get ready, whānau — our BOOK FAIR is here, and it's bursting with magical stories, colourful pages, and endless adventures for your little readers!
Come along and explore the wonderful world of books with your tamariki! Not only is this a chance to stock up on stories for bedtime snuggles, but every book purchased helps support literacy and learning in our centre — it’s a win-win!

Did you know? Sharing books with under 5’s helps grow their vocabulary, spark their imagination, and build essential brain connections that support lifelong learning. It’s not just about stories — it’s about growing confident, curious learners which is something we at Beach Kids Waihi believe is so important!

A friendly little reminder: Please supervise your child while browsing to help keep our Book Fair tidy and the books in tip-top shape for everyone to enjoy. Let’s work together to make this a fun, exciting experience for all our families! Jess will be there most days to support you through the process.

What we have to offer: Literacy is crucial to your child’s future academic success in the future, Beach Kids have a dedicated commitment to building early literacy foundations so we are running two book packs for two luckily winners to enhance your child’s love of literacy! Thank you so much to Eilleen and Graham for your donation. One pack is valued at $50 and the other is worth $30.

How to enter… every $5 you spend puts one entry into the $30 pack and every $10 spent on a book enters you one entry into the chance to win the $50 pack. These will be drawn on the 18th July.

We have found a range of books to ensure that every child can affordably get a book with a section of the fair been $3-$12.

Kia ora koutou,
We are very excited to announce to you that we are having our very own book fair at Beach Kids that will run from the 7th of July-18th July 2025. New Zealand faces a concerning trend of declining literacy rates among both children and adults. While the country has made some progress in improving literacy skills, a substantial portion of the population still struggles with basic skills. At Beach Kids we value ensuring that all children develop foundational skills that last them a lifetime, and this book fair will encourage a lifelong love of reading and literacy. Beach Kids has teamed up with Scholastics to bring affordable books that you as parents, grandparents and extended whanau can purchase. Did you know that reading even one book to your child each day can dramatically improve their academic success and especially their literacy skills.

Up and coming dates to remember:
7th July- 18th July- We will have books out in the entrance foyer and primary school aged resources (great for Christmas stocking fillers) out in the back office. Both areas will encourage you and your child to look at the books and choose the right one that interest your child.
15th July- Grandparents Day. Share this important date with your special grandparents. We are encouraging grandparents to come in and share stories with the children and purchasing books for their houses as well.
18Th July- Dress as your favorite book character- Dust off your child’s favorite book character costume and we will roll out the red carpet for the children to arrive in style. We will have a day filled with lots of fun, laughter and reading. All the children who dress up will receive a prize. The teachers will also be dressing up so it will be great fun.

If you as a parent would like to join in with the fun, please let us know if you would like to come in and share your favorite story with the children.

We look forward to your participation and support especially with this being such a valuable foundational skill for your child’s future.

🌞A beautiful day for a visit to our own backyard! The tamariki had an awesome morning explore the beach, collecting shells and a picnic! 🌊
