We are so lucky to call Waihi home!

Our tamariki love to get out, exploring our local area, and taking in the real magic right here in our own backyard. 🌞 🌿

This week at Beach Kids we have been gently exploring and remembering what ANZAC Day means. We were honoured to have a special visit from James Rutledge (Shells husband) who served 17 years in the army. He shared stories from his time in Afghanistan, including helping to build an orphanage, which really captured the children’s interest and hearts.

The tamariki were deeply engaged, asking thoughtful questions and showing a real curiosity about his medals and what they represent. Through these conversations, they began to understand the meaning of courage, service, and remembrance in a way that was meaningful to them.

Alongside this, the children have been expressing their learning through art and storytelling, creating, reflecting, and remembering in their own ways. It has been a special week of connection, learning, and respect.

We will remember them

Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou. 🌺
