Send in your gold coins on Fridays. Tomorrow we open our Snack Shack run by our Student Council. Open every Friday at lunchtime. All items are $1 or $2 and include yummy treats such as fresh baking, popcorn, yogurts, crackers, pretzels, chocolate etc. We are raising money for new items for our Sports Shed. Thanks for your support!

Our Book Week wrapped up this week with one of our favourite annual events – Book Character Dress-Up Day!

Once again, we were blown away by the creativity, imagination and impressive glue-gun skills on display! From much-loved classics to newer favourites, our students brought an incredible collection of book characters to life. A huge thank you to all the whānau who helped behind the scenes with costumes.

Thank you also to our staff and students who embraced the day and joined in the fun. Events like these are a wonderful way to celebrate books, reading and the joy of a great story.

A special congratulations to our Book Week dress-up winners! 🏆📖 Your creativity, effort and attention to detail certainly impressed our judges. With so many fantastic costumes to choose from, selecting the winners was no easy task!

Grandparents Day 2026

To all our grandparents and special people who joined us for Grandparents Day, a heartfelt thank you from everyone at Waiau Pā School. It was wonderful to see generations coming together, sharing special moments, creating memories and enjoying plenty of laughs along the way!

A huge congratulations to our Grandparents, who claimed bragging rights by winning our inaugural Grandparents vs Grandchildren Competition! 👏🏆 We have a feeling the grandchildren may already be planning their comeback for next year!

Congratulations also to all the lucky winners of our grocery raffles and the Kauri Camp fundraiser raffle. Thank you to everyone who supported these fundraisers.

A special mention to all our amazing helpers who gave their time and helped make the day run so smoothly. Events like this are made possible by the wonderful support of our school whānau and community.

Thank you for making Grandparents Day such a memorable occasion. We hope to see you all again next year! 💛 🥰

Our Rimu Year 5 and 6 students were welcomed into our ‘Book Cafe’ this morning for a sampling of our school library’s most decadent texts. Students sampled a range of genres and often returned for seconds. Chill cafe vibes, great reads
