What a busy few weeks it’s been with the changing weather and ANZAC Day commemorations 🌦️🇳🇿
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Hutt Mana Charitable Trust for approving our grant application. Thanks to their generosity, we’re excited to be able to purchase two new boxes and a set of parallel bars.
These new resources will help us further extend the learning and physical development of our tamariki, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support that makes opportunities like this possible 💛

Today at Kindergarten we commemorated Anzac Day.
The children enjoyed baking traditional Anzac biscuits together. We also created a beautiful poppy mural and painted poppy pictures. At mat time we listened to the true story of The Anzac Puppy.
It was a special day of learning and creativity as we honoured the Anzac spirit together.
Have a safe and peaceful long weekend and we will see you back at kindergarten on Tuesday 28th April.

We at Trentham Kindergarten hope everyone had a safe and restful Easter.
So far we have had a quiet start to our week. Yesterday (Tuesday) we were lucky enough to have the dancers from the 8th count dance school come in and show us their amazing dances.

Today we have some creative still art drawing.

We have also had fantastic news... Pelorus Trust have approved our grant for the next stage in our outdoor upgrade.
We have been very lucky to have had their support the last couple of years to replace and upgrade areas of our Kindergarten.

So, watch this space in May, where we will hopefully update you on our project with the company Smartgrass.

Trentham kaiako had a teacher only day yesterday…. And what stunning weather we had.
We decided to focus on our outdoor environment, what a great effort had by all.

Debbie and Joline weeded and rebarked around out flowering cherry tree at our entrance. Angela and Maria took the fence down out the back and popped in some stepping stones to make an awesome path through some plants. This allowed us to create a space for Tane Mahuta where can can now add homes for all his creatures.
Where Kellie got distracted and gave the swing shed a much needed clean out, and boy did it need it.

Joline dragged Maria shopping to get a storage shed for all the gardening equipment leaving the swing shed just for that, while we were doing that mahi, Kellie, Angela and Debbie got stuck in and made amazing changes to our carpentry area.

Roll on our next teacher only day next term when more amazing mahi will take place.

Welcome back for 2026!!

We are three weeks into the term, and it is already busy.
We have Martin the Toymaker in creating with the tamariki, we have sent off some of our play equipment to get a new lease of life for future learning (being an enviroschools kindergarten, we believe in fixing than replacing where we can), and of course we have our bikes, climbing, swings and indoor activities.

Welcome to our new whānau that are starting with us. We are excited to be walking alongside you and our community in your tamaiti's learning journey with Trentham Kindergarten.

We look forward to another busy year that grows and strengthens our personal and professional growth alongside the new learning that happens in our amazing setting.

🎥✨ Little hands, big creativity! ✨🎥

Today our tamariki became toymakers with Martin the Toyman! Using real tools—drills, clamps, and sanders—they crafted wooden cameras we get to keep here at kindergarten, and they explored the magic of making.

This hands-on workshop links beautifully to Te Whāriki, especially the strand of Mana Aotūroa – Exploration, where children learn through active discovery. It also nurtures Mana Tangata (collaboration), Mana Reo (communication), and Mana Atua (wellbeing).
